Being told I have to retake the MMPI-2 twice in eight months, looking for input.

I took the MMPI-2 last June, passed, received a FOL and enrolled into the Academy. Unfortunately, I had to withdraw due to personal reasons but am being allowed to re-enroll (I just received a CIL). My HR rep is insisting I have to retake everything over again, background check, medical, drug and the MMPI-2, I understand why I have to take medical/drug/background but I was under the impression that the MMPI-2 was good for upto two years?

Why not just take it again?
Why deal with HR any more than the absolute minimum?

They'll probably compare the results of the first test to his 2nd test and be like "Well on the 1st test you said you 'definitely would not' have sex with your mom 5 out of 5 times, but on the 2nd test you clearly indicated that you 'definitely would not' 4 out of 5 times and 'probably would not' on the remaining response. We therefore definitely declare you to be, unequivocally and irrevocably, a literal motherfucker. We award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Well, I asked because I reviewed the guide and nowhere does it say MMPI is good for two years.

I believe the MMPI is only required on entry. Leaving and coming back they must see it as a justified requirement to do it again.

You’re already in the .01% I wouldn’t ask questions. Just take the test again.

This happened to me in 2015 or so. I turned down a terminal FOL, the next bid I was fortunate enough to be selected again. This time around I chose to accept, and all that was required of me was to update my drug test (maybe another more recent background check as well). I had already gone through the tier 2 process as well from failing the MMPI the first time around. So maybe the fact that I had tier 2d made the difference?

What guide did you review? Because I am going through my forms from last year that I had to fill out and one of them states, " NOTE: If you have completed either the MMPI-2 or Tier 2 process within 24 months, DO NOT schedule another MMPI-2. Please contact Aerospace Medicine for further instructions.”"

If you had a FOL and an Academy date, withdrew, and somehow got a new offer again, you are more fortunate then 99.5% of applicants. I would just do what they say and roll with it.

I already passed the MMPI-2 once, I do not want to risk them saying my answer for whether or not I like flowers did not match and I need to be tier II'd as a result.

Just call your proctor and ask.

Jump through the hoops if you really want this job. Even if it seems pointless and unnecessary. As an employee, you’ll have to retake the same ELMs courses on the same dull material every year. It’s a part of working for the Federal Government. Get used to it.

But do you get paid to do it? :p

Hell, you’ll have to retake the same elms multiple times in a week cause that shit didn’t record.

It’s been a little while but in the CIL I think it says if you’ve already taken the MMPI within the last 2 years to contact the POC listed.

I'd do everything you can to avoid taking it again. I passed the first time and got into the agency. Certified, worked years, had to leave for long term family emergency. Finally I'm coming back to the FAA and I took it again. I thought I'd be fine. Nope. Failed..

Is it because you've grown old and cynical and no longer like "working with groups instead of alone"?

Did you ultimately pass?
