Let's just keep in mind it takes years to see the affects of a training hiccup like this. Sooner or later there will be GDPs for staffing as a result of nobody available to work. Might not be for years, and it won't hit the core30 for longer, but it'll happen eventually. Remember, there haven't been any certifications in 4+ months and there are unlikely to be any for the next several months, maybe longer, depending on how long you all keep lobbying for cake schedules that still doesn't prevent the spread of COVID in facilities. This is getting really, really old guys.
Bro, I may not have seen a certification, during a 4 YEAR period, prior to our recently retracted release MOU. We worked with 54 CPCs (out of a target of 102). I’m sure Core 30s can manage no certifications for a single year. The show will go on even with a year long hiccup.

I can't wait to sit with my popcorn and watch. The show will go on. But at some point, some facilities are realllly gonna start getting hosed. Might not be for 3-5 years, but it'll happen. Training halts don't show their affects for years.

Here’s your update...

COVID-19 is spreading quickly and we are trying to reduce the possibility of negative health effects on our members while balancing the needs and demands of the National Airspace System. We have taken great measures, through great negotiations, with the agency to reduce staffing numbers to minimize risks for our members. Unfortunately, this may affect the ability of some members to train and potentially get raises. Know that this decision wasn’t taken lightly, but was taken with the best interests of everyone’s health and the needs of the NAS. We will communicate with you as soon as we are able to and help you further your careers. For now, stay safe.

Is that similar to what you want to hear?
Maybe a simple “We are still working with the FAA to come up with a solution. Plan to do zoom classes next week while we discuss how and when to best implement OJT”

Every Friday or something.

I support the pilots. I don’t support natca national sending email after email without address the thousands of trainees that they represent
I agree, but people working deserve the Hazard Pay and the Pilots an extension of the APSP program. NATCA's noncommunicative issue relating to trainees can be dealt with later, but the pilots and current people working need the support.

So they can represent and inform all the membership. I know they got enough details to cover all the bases.

Agreed man, but we both know they are going to play training close to their chest for political reasons or perhaps something spooked them (I still think furloughs are a possibility but that is my opinion) or in the "Spirit of Collaboration" with the Agency they choose not to reveal it to us at this time.

you're speakin my language.

Well it’s bullshit. This is probably the biggest event of our careers where we need representation and it seems they are only representing some.
I’ve been working again for a month now and have not heard one person reflect on the added safety of this schedule. Only how awesome it is and how they hope they can keep it as long as possible for all the time off. And I sit 3 feet from someone for 4-6 hours a day

They seem to walk the line of not wanting to lie, which they'd get caught on eventually.

The agency has money, from what they saved in OT this year. They are never going to want to force people to wear masks and pay hazard pay. Hell, it would be like 2012-2019 again here except $10K+ a day in OT is $10K+ in hazard pay. People should fill out the form. All my information was already input, when I opened the link. Literally, took 30 seconds to complete.

already seen official memos from the FAA that directly contradict you on the mask issue, so..... i dunno man.

I agree, Congress can force them to pay if it is law though.

Then, you missed years of Imposed Work Rules, Sequestration, government shutdowns, et cetera. when the union busted their asses to represent BUEs. How are they not representing you now? People are maintaining their current pay to reduce staffing and minimize risks to service of the NAS. I truly hope you all certify because you’re acting like it is simply you returning to training for a month or so and BAM here’s CPC pay and the union is keeping you from earning your guaranteed and deserved money.

I’ve already been through a 2 months government shutdown that delayed my training by 4 months. But thank you. Not once have I had someone going out of their way at all to get us through the process during the “good time”. Just told to wait my turn. Well it’s my turn now and there’s a Fucking pandemic. Did you have a pandemic when you were in training?

If they force employees to wear mask and pay the 25% premium, then training will commence. The agency LOVES to not spend money. Bonuses and everything are tied to them saving money. I find it hard for them to want to justify basically OT budgets to get trainees back in the building to train on half of the traffic. They also have to answer if their facility goes ATC-0 because of their decision.

Nobody is acting like they'll certify in a month. Seems to me everyone is worried about it taking longer than usual.... not being quicker.

facilities are already going ATC 0 as a result of this. What's the difference? Training is already in the budget. As for traffic being slow, it's gonna be this way for a while (did you miss the part about the pilot furloughs? Pilots fly from that little room in the front of the plane). Either train people on it and let them work up to it or let yourself fall into bigger staffing crisis than you already are in.

I dont see how we don't make it out of this without some sort of furlough. RIFs wont happen but i can see furloughs next year

I had my class date changed three times and delayed almost a year. I changed my wedding date twice to accommodate. I had IWR, while training. Anything else you want to get tit for tat on? It sucks, but deal with it. The quicker you learn that the agency doesn’t care about you as an individual, the better and easier your career will be. The show ALWAYS goes on... At this time, it is a safer for the needs of the agency to minimize risk to losing the ability to provide ATC services due to an outbreak of COVID-19. The union is always going to put safety FIRST and the BUE’s safety trumps training.
