I don’t think they have a problem with that tbh. Districts arent gonna change. But their bill doesn’t have term limits for Supreme Court. It just rotates them back to the circuit after 18 years.

I don’t hate the idea of term limits for law makers but it’s not really the same as asking for them on judges. Judges don’t have to be re-elected or reconfirmed.

I get the desire for term limits. The problem is lobbyists, as it is members of Congress can amass power in their own right. If they're being replaced all the time the balance of power shifts to the lobbyists, at least that's a big concern.

I would feel okay with term limits but keep them pretty long. Say five terms (ten years) for the House and two terms (12 years) for the Senate. And/or implement age limits, say a hard cap at 60, or even peg it to the Social Security retirement age. I don't want 80-year-olds making decisions about facebook and NASA and climate change and other things that they don't know about nor will live to see the effects of.

the point of that is that confirming a Justice during an election year was perfectly normal until the Republican objection over Garland. Until then no one on either party gave a crap about nominating a justice during an election year. But the Repubs changed the precedent and just a mere 4 years later are arguing the opposite of what they fought so hard for,

I think It’s technically protected by the first amendment of the constitution, but I do agree with you. Politicians shouldn’t have celebrity status and be inaccessible to the general public, but that’s how it is. Politicians don’t generally listen to individual voters, but go to opensecrets.org. It’ll become clear why they vote the way they vote.

Get rid of the 17th Amendment and let the states’ legislators nominate their own Senators for a one term limit. Limit Representatives to three total terms (6 years to match that of Senators).

I can get on board with this. I still believe neither party will propose term limits for themselves though.
