Damn I missed some doozies here haha.

Just because your job offers a 401k doesn't mean you can afford to invest in a 401k if you can barely afford your immediate needs. Pretending that's not the case for lots of people because it wasn't the case for you is dumb.

Phillyman2633 you were a single dude with a decent job in a low cost of living area before getting in the agency. When you were at your 11 you could have probably afforded to do the same and not have roommates, but you had to live in hipster ass Brooklyn if my memory serves me correctly, we had discussions about this many moons ago, so I really can't take the I did roommate's so should everyone else argument seriously. That was a choice you made based on wanting to live in a hip place, not because say.... You are a single mom with a kid, who yes, 100fuckingpercent shouldn't be having to find a sketch ass roommate on craigslist to get by because of needs (as opposed to your wants).

32, as usual has some solid points he backs up with absolute garbage because that's what they are saying in reddit these days, I guess.

Also, yes glad I skipped the debates. I didn't need that shit today lol.

Minimum wage jobs pay minimum wages for minimum skills. If you dont want roommates, dont have minimum skills. McDonalds fry cook is not meant to be the end of a career path. There are different levels of living comfort that correspond to differering levels of societal output. End of story.
This has always been my thought. If I don’t like my compensation I look for a different job. You might have to work harder, get out in the elements, build a house etc. Easier in some locations than others, but I’m also a believer that it’s not a “right” to live in SFO. Plenty of low cost areas to live, move your ass to where your standard of life will be better. It’s not the government’s job to make sure you make enough to live there.

Yeah just put them in the gulag because they don't contribute enough, same with all the people with disabilities, not my fault they got born that way
Seriously no one on this site is against a televised Gulag with people in wheelchairs

Just move nice take

Yah I don’t think min wage people can afford much more than a beater. Do you know how little 7.25 a hour is

yes. in fact i'm very intimate with working minimum wage lol

my entire point, throughout all of this, was that people can always be more frugal with their budget. are you suggesting that there are currently no minimum wage workers are paying for vehicles that are above their financial means?

Yeah I lived in Hipster ass Brooklyn and still maxed out my TSP and still paid $1700/mo towards my student loans, because that was my lifestyle choice. If I wanted to pay $2500 a month towards my student loans but live alone then yeah sure I could go live in Hauppauge with all the mutants.

You literally are saying people who are on minimum wage don't deserve to live by themselves
I am literally saying that the realities of today's society are such that if you want to buy a house, you cant do so on McDonald's pay, and if that's the only marketable life skills you have, that sucka for you.

Did you have a solution?

It’s an option. I would make shit happen rather than just bitch about it. Hate away though. Keep that burger flipping career paying top bucks.
With what money should the person move? Or do you think its free to move

I mean that's all good and fine and great financial planning on your part at a 6 figure a year job. Say bobbysue, mother of 2 working as a waitress at waffle house to make ends meet in Cincinnati or some shit.... No she probably doesn't have the spare scratch to invest in a 401k, and she shouldn't hace to move her children in with some sketchy craigslist methhead pedo to afford housing.

I knew a broke ass dude that went upside down to get a hummer H3 when he made $12 an hour lol. Needless to say that got repo’d.

Man you’re right. Broke people never move. What was I thinking.

I mean you can build more affordable housing or increase minimum wage but I know those are commie solutions and they'll hurt the sacred god economy

Saying just move and then saying oh well some people do is such a dumb take. Cool 10% of people could move what about the other 90%
And saying there is no solution except increasing minimum wage and giving free housing is retarded.

This doesn’t have to be punitive. Everyone can succeed.
That is a pipe dream. I’ve been working as a forklift driver in a warehouse since August for some extra money to pay off student loans quicker. Let’s just say it has opened my eyes to the failures of education in the US. We had a meeting with our whole DC a month ago and we got a raise from $14 to $16.50. Some guy sitting behind me said, “Dang $16.50/hour with all the overtime we’re getting that’s gonna be like $19/hour.” I blew his mind when I told him it was $24.75. A lot of people in the workforce are close to or completely illiterate, and clearly would struggle with middle school math. Any warm body with two legs can flip burgers or sort boxes, and they’ll be paid accordingly.

Why did Bobbysue have 2 kids and decide afterwards that she didnt have skills that didnt include working the mid shift at Waffle House?
Because her state made it hard for her to get an abortion and she was brought up with shitty schools? Great take
