I mean....25% of our budget goes toward the military, 25% to social security, and 25% to medicare/Medicaid currently (more or less)
If we dont already have the money to do the socialism thing currently, where do you propose we get it from? (Serious question)
Tbh if you told me we could feed everyone in the country and all we had to do was not invade the middle east, I'd be somewhat ok with it. But that ain't gonna happen and I ain't about paying $10k more in taxes every year.
Taxes on the obscenely wealthy and eliminating loopholes for them to hoard wealth, cutting our egregious overspending on military ventures the American people don't want or need, nationalization of some select industries, investment in modernized infrastructure (which will hurt in the short term but be a net gain in the long run).
We've had this convo a gajillion times.
You’re right. Most of the ‘developed world’ is embracing socialism. Not sure what I was thinking there ?
I already posted a direct response to you about socialist models that are working (Nordic, rhinnesh models).
social corporatism is a thing, as is libertarian socialism. You can also have socialist parties in a capitalist system, social democracy or democratic socialism. These are all real things and ideas that exist.
You can have worker/public ownership of things that are of value to all members of society beyond corporate profits and still have markets, trading, a middle class, upward mobility, and a way to become wealthy, maybe jisy not obscenely and generationally so, which I'm fine with, and you should be too, as a fellow bottom of the barrel scumbag like myself.
Socialism is a bad word because you've been conditioned and taught by a generation of people who were scared of nuclear annihilation at the hands of capital "S" socialism zealot like Marxist/leninist communist socialists.
Know the difference before claiming SoCiALisM Is tHe DevIL aNd aLWayS fAIls.
Edit-I Almsot forgot.... Are you in natca? Oh labor unions? PROFOUNDLY socialist in origins, and the basis of collective bargaining is socialist in nature and spawned from socialist movements.
