I was more referring to the guy going home to hammer one out leaving the other guy alone. The FAA hates leaving people alone when you don’t have to. Additionally, though I understand it’s hard to stay awake on a mid sometimes we do this to ourselves. If we wanted a different schedule I’m guessing we could have negotiated one by now.
Yeah unless you're in the minority that would prefer a week of days/nights/mids. I'll never understand the hordes of old fucks at this job who claim to fuckin love the rattler because it gives them more time in their weekends to run errands and go cheer on little Timmy at soccer practice or whatever the fuck. Like every Friday afternoon, 52 weeks out of the year, is spent running to the bank and doctor's appointments. Or dudes that got hired at the beginning of a hiring wave by chance and were able to get weekends off after like 5 years in the agency and claim to have "put in their time."

“Meanwhile, Gard gave the pilots permission to land and depart.”

Didnt realize airport ops was cross trained in being controllers.
It was probably more of a “check the area of intended landing for vehicle/aircraft conflicts” than cleared them to land. But what do you expect him to do lol. There is no excuse for falling asleep on a mid. Yah the schedule sucks (though I’m one of those who like it and would hate a straight schedule) but if you are too tired to work then call out. Fatigue mitigation. Set an alarm for every 5 minutes just in case if you are nodding. Get up and walk around. Open the tower door for some cool air (if the season permits) etc etc.

Im sure that was probably the case and I’m guessing the pilots probably just treated it as an uncontrolled field. No doubt there. Staying awake isn’t easy but you can make yourself if you’re proactive. Also no excuse for the other controller leaving excluding the potential pot issue.

If I’m feeling tired I turn on the Freqs at every position and turn them up for mega surround sound. Can’t miss a call then lol. I don’t usually have a problem with being tired though.

One of my mid buddies would always doze off, sometimes 10-15 min at a time, but I swear when a radio call came in, he’d reply without missing a beat. It was kind of impressive to watch.

I just kept a stash of Bang at the tower and would sip it for the first 4 hours until it was almost nap time.

The list of the 18 states and District of Columbia that accept and count mail in ballots received after election day. It's been happening for decades and there is nothing anti-democratic about counting ballots that were cast in accordance with state law and received by the deadline established by state law. I mean, unless you don't believe in the state's rights to establish voting procedures. Even in that case, you would need a constitutional amendment to repeal that state right.

They should update what’s allowed on the mid tho. For example you can have a book but you can’t have an ebook. You can have a radio but you can’t have an MP3 player

I talked to your district manager and he said he'll now allow you to read 1984 and listen to Alex Jones podcasts on your mids. No deviation from those.

I havent worked a mid in agency yet, but I remember just grabbing as many of the mini ripit cans as I could pocket at the dfac (for anyone wondering you can get 4 per pant cargo pocket) when I was working the 6-6 when I was deployed.

I’d write dissertations but no one reads them 🙁
Because we'd be talking about current events and you'd wanna have a discussion about banana sales and market demand in Weimar Germany and how that leads to where we are today hahaha.

I heard rumors from some right people adjacent people they sound quite plausible, but I'm not into spreading rumors I can't verify myself.
That’s my situation. I heard from someone who knows someone there but it’s hearsay that I can’t easily verify.
