Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-17-ALLSRCE-53474

Wondering myself. That would be my first choice. Will NOT touch Isola Bella with a 10 foot pole. Lots of bad reviews, crime infested neighborhood of OKC, home invasion at gun point in 2015, garbage "free" food, losing all your housing per diem. The list goes on.

Hadn't looked into Isola Bella but good to know!

I was gonna go to OKC with my girlfriend and find an apartment to rent for the time we are there. Anyone else doing this?
I stayed with my wife for a bit when she was there. Anatole has 1 bedrooms that are nice

Now that there a many people starting to get class dates I notice more than I had ever expected to. Is this the norm? I have my own family, but would never think to pick them up and move them just for a few months and then move them again right away. This is in no way knocking on anybody who decides to do so, I'm just curious of the mindset of the process.

If I had a family, I’d just put it in the perspective of it literally being a life changing opportunity. I’d treat it as an extended work trip vacation for them, business for me. At the end of the day, seeing the long term goal of being able to immensely provide for a family would be worth the risk and task of moving around like that. Just my two cents.

Finished the drug test up today, completed all of the CIL requirements. Now we wait! and maybe look for a temp job lol

It is worth the risk, but I wasn't referring to moving them once you finish. I meant moving them to be at the academy with you. I don't see the benefit in it other than being with your family during that time. Understandably, some people may need that support system or it could cause more undue stress on them being away from their family. All in all though, it seems like a lot of extra work to be done to move twice within a 3 month (or shorter) period.

As a mom, I can’t/ don’t want to be away from my kids for 3 months. Hopefully there are some other moms because I’m sure the norm will be singles or dads bringing their wives and kids... I’m bringing my husband and kids and that’s def the right choice for me.

And the kids gotta have their mom. It was tough when i was little to see my mom gone for the military for just a few weeks, couldn't imagine 3-4 months!

It's all a personal choice and how understanding your family will be. Studying (for most) is A MUST. If your family will be a distraction or unable to understand you can't spend every minute with them outside of class, then definitely leave them behind. If you rely on your family for support, etc and they don't mine moving frequently and being uprooted from friends and a familiar environment then bring them with.

This is the part I see being the biggest issue for some. Unless the spouse doesn't work or has a job they can work remotely, you lose that income. On top of that there is the issue of you being gone all day and the family having no friends or anything to do so it becomes stressful for them.

I completely understand not wanting to be away from your children and it being hard for them. I definitely respect everyone's choice and what they feel is right for their family. It will be an experience that everyone gets to go through together.

Honestly I feel that if you can't take three months to learn this job without your family then the career is a terrible choice. You're going to be working shit hours, it has a high divorce rate for a reason

Any homeowners? I'm struggling with either trying to sell my house or rent it out for 4 months somehow and then selling it after I (hopefully) pass the academy. Doubt ZDV will be taking new grads so don't think i'll be back here for a while.

Starting the CIL process this evening.

My corporate 7-3 job put more stress on my marriage and family life than this job ever will. I would even say taking this job has helped me and my wife spend more time together.
