Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-17-ALLSRCE-53474

Just emailed my HR rep for an update, they have my drug test and conditional clearance, just waiting for medical. Flight surgeon emailed me 8 days ago saying he would let me know when he has cleared me... still waiting!

Just got a reply saying that medical cleared today, waiting for the call now!

How are those of you in contact with medical, talking to your medical POC? I have no idea who mine is. I have emailed the 9-agl-avs-medical... with no reply.

I emailed 9-agl and my POC emailed me back from her faa email.

The flight surgeon needed me to do a follow-up eye exam, so he emailed me, then let me know when he cleared me.

I received a class date for 5/21! I got a couple of questions, first has anyone stayed/heard of someone who has stayed at anatole and how it is? Second, which chapters of the FAR AIM should I be studying before going to OKC?

I would only look at the basics section on pointsixtyfive.

In a little bit of a pickle. I take my medical May 2nd but just offer a temp federal job with my guard unit. I know most people would say don’t push off your start date. But this temp job would be good money.

You can request to push your class date back, but they reserve the right to deny your request. If you don't accept their class date, then you have to start all over and re-apply next bid.

Can be a sensitive subject, but some pros on starting your class as soon as possible are:
- Jumping into training as soon as possible (it will already be long, may as well get it over with)
- Starting your seniority date (this is huge, a single day could be the factor of if you get the days off you want or not later on)
- Being "in" (you've spent all this time trying to get in, now you want to wait more? let the worry go away)
- OKC during summer (not everyone will like this, but I found it awesome in the summertime)

After being here a week I can tell you that if the wind is just as bad in the winter I'd rather stab my eyes with a fork than be here in January. This warmer spring/summer weather is ideal for sure.

I've never thought of OKC as being especially windy. Yeah, more than average across the US, but I've lived in windier places. Problem is that most of the "windy city" lists only count cities above a population of 50,000 or 100,000.
