Just got started on my medical paperwork for my CIL and I'm curious about something. About 7 years ago I was prescribed Ambien for very occasional sleep issues related to switching between day and night shift. Was not diagnosed with any sleep disorder and didn't really need it, but my doc liked writing prescriptions. Around that time I began pilot training and got my 1st Class medical certificate. The flight doc told me to stop taking Ambien alltogether, which I did, and he noted it in the paperwork he sent off to the FAA. Had no issue getting my cert and I have never taken any medication since then. But now I'm wondering if this is going to be an issue for me all these years later with passing my medical? @breakaway2000 @MJ

You'll be fine.

No

Does anyone know for the medical when they do the eyesight if they check what your eyes are, cause I have glasses and I'm blind as fuck without them, and I know that you get DQ'd if your shape of eye is really wonky

It's with or without correction. You're fine with glasses. Per the FAA Medical Standards...

DISTANT VISION - 20/20 in each eye separately with or without correction.
NEAR VISION - 20/40 in each eye at 16 inches with or without correction.

No, they do not disqualify you by the shape of your eyes...

I thought I read that if the correction is greater than like 6.5 in your prescription you're DQ'd TIL, thank you. So is this just the basic read these letters off the wall?

When the EOD forms are approved did y'all get a email or did you just check the website?

I completed my EODS and ATBASICS form last Friday and haven't received an email, only "approved" status on the EODS page. I hate worrying about this stupid stuff. What if my ATBASICS form got lost? WHAT IF IT GOT LOST?! I'M ALMOST 31!!!

Yep just reading letters off the wall. Type of prescription doesn't matter. The aviation medical guys want people to pass physicals. They are some of the most laid back doctors I've ever encountered.

I'm 87% sure you're kidding, but in case not, the age cutoff is only for the application. You can take as much time as you'd like now.
