If anyone could ballpark best case to worst case time frames for someone like me to get to the academy, receiving a CIL on 2/1, I’d appreciate it. I know there’s no exact way of knowing because everyone’s situation is different, and there a multiple factors going into it, but any info could help. Trying to assess job opportunities in the mean time before the academy.

I have an off topic question, I’m looking to private message a moderator with a question.. I tried and I’m not sure if it worked... anyone know how to do it?

Worst case, you may fail something and never go. Or you could end up in Tier 2 land and be delayed an additional 6+ months. Best case, assuming you schedule all your appointments quickly, in theory you could be there this summer.

Figured this would be the case, but still wanted to ask. Appreciate it. The only thing I’m unclear on is being “tier 2.” Is that just a potential issue in your medical or background check that just takes more time to investigate/decide on?

Well evidently there are 900+ people waiting to go to the academy from last years bid. So I’m betting on around fall is when well start going to the academy.

You can also get tier 2 from trying to “beat” the MMPI-2 basically you answer questions in a way you think the test wants rather than telling the truth.

Have my MMPI2 this week and also snow storm coming... I don’t really want to reschedule it and the area I have to go isn’t exoected to get as much as where I live... considering trying to reschedule... rather try and make it but are they understanding should I not be able to make it last minute?

You'll be fine, it might surprise you how informal the MMPI process is. Just call and let them know.

A tier two generally is you fail the computerized psych eval (MMPI). This can be done by trying to beat the test and five perfect answers, answering inconsistently, as we as many other ways. Historially only a small number of applicants fail this, although that number seems to be increasing. You then must sit around and wait to notified that you failed (cannot expedite this) and be given permission to meet in person with a psychologist. There are many threads detailing what happens after failng.

Thanks for all the info. You guys rock. Already have the MMPI scheduled for this week and still waiting on security check and medical instructions. Just can’t wait to get everything done and all the waiting out of the way. I live 15 min away from the MMAC, so it doesn’t help that I have to drive by it every day haha.

Once you conplcom everything the waiting only begins...

Here's a question...so while I realize the academy is out of reach till basically October at the earliest, will we still get a FOL 3 to 6 months after compeltion of all CIL items just with a further date in the future than usual? Or will they wait till a monthish before the class date to send out a FOL? Obviously compeltion of the CIL in 3 to 6 months is smooth sailing with zero issues.

Welp, got the call I've been dreading. Was sitting in my office this afternoon with my legs kicked up and my boss calls. Tells me I need to come over to his office (different building) to sign some paperwork, which is not uncommon, but had me curious. I ask him "What paperwork?" He tells me "it's the paperwork for your new job obviously, looks like you won't be around here much longer." - somewhat sarcastically, with a subtle hint of seriousness implied.

For all those curious, they get a piece of paper in the mail, there is no mistaking what it is. Be ready to respond to your current employer in the best manner possible.

Did you actually have to sign anything? Asking seriously because my boss is in another state.
