Just curious, would failing a polygraph exam for another agency cause any issues during ATC background? I recently took and was (verbally) told I did not pass a polygraph with an agency that has notoriously low passage rates for said exam. I have a completely clean background and nothing to worry about in reality. Just hope it doesn’t cause issues with FAA clearance...

I'm curious about this as well. Failed a polygraph for an agency over a year ago, nothing else in my background that would be an issue though.

Does anyone know how often new classes start? For instance, do they start up one new class per week or is it more like one every two weeks?

Nah, on those they explicitly state that failing a poly can keep you from the job, but there's nothing else they can do with it. So I wouldn't expect it to have anything with applying to the FAA

It should come from an OKC code. They should give you at least 3-4 weeks to find living arrangements. Short, but not difficult.

On a side note- KH said that OPM is updating the pay scales, so once that happens I would expect FOLs to roll out.
It's out of OPM's hands. It's with the OMB and then the president. Earliest it can go into effect is the 22nd.

If you were denied a clearance from another agency it will impact the process. I'd expect not to get a waiver.

Thank you for the response, that’s a relief! I didn’t pay much attention to all the hoopla about polys before, but after experiencing it first hand, they’re complete junk lol. Note to anyone considering applying to an agency that requires them. I waited a year to be scheduled for one, and was then told I failed every question. Smh...

It'll depend on whether or not you need to go to Basics or not, but you can find the course schedules here.

It was not to receive a clearance, it was only for employment suitability. This position did not come with any level of clearance.

It’s been a few months since I filled my e-QIP for a different agency, but I thought it asked if you were ever denied a clearance or had a clearance revoked.

Edit: “
Section 25 Investigations and Clearance Record
  • Name of agency conducting clearance, date started/completed, type of clearance granted
  • Any denial, downgrade, or revocation of a clearance; the agency taking action, explanation”
This was taken out of the Security Clearance FAQ.

The position with the other agency did not require or grant any clearance for entry-level employees though, they were very clear the poly and the background investigation were purely for “employment suitability” and NOT clearance purposes.

I’m using the term generically. You don’t get a clearance in the FAA either. That BI and determination will be looked at.

Oh wow I applied to a emergency dispatcher position back in 2016 in which I didn’t get through the polygraph.

You’re tier 2 and failed a polygraph before? They might banish you to the shadow realm... lol
Well according to my security POC, my security portion of the process has been complete. So I’m assuming immconditinally cleared.
