Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

They didn’t give him a reason as in why he failed. He was not prior military. He speculated that it was from answering the test too perfectly even though they were honest answers. He is actually pretty straight-edged. He decided to follow a different career path since he believes not much can be done now. He did invest in someone to represent his case.

In reference to a previous post, I answered true to the question pertaining to stealing. I also answered true to “Sometimes I seem to hear my thoughts being spoken out loud.” I didn’t realize till afterwards that this question could have been testing for schizophrenia. It took me two hours to finish that damn thing and I don’t think I was consistent with my answers at all. I ended up passing the
MMPI-2.

Has anyone been selected for the NY location/N90? Anyone in OKC know if any NYers are in their classes?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s my application or my particular facility that is delayed/backlogged. I haven’t heard a single word since completing everything in Feb.

What I did was wait to find out if I was assigned enroute or terminal. Living in the Houston area, if I was assigned enroute and busted my ass, I knew there was a CHANCE I could end up at ZHU. However, when I received a class date for terminal, my house was on the market the next day. It seems to me that the tower facilities in major cities(such as Houston, in my case) are mostly higher levels that would not be assigned to an academy grad. An old person might say I’m wrong in my thinking here, but that was my takeaway on the whole thing
Damn I'm in the Houston area I'm clinging to some hope I would get something here. What facility did you get?

Reference referring to what exactly?
Just a personal reference to be able to answer questions such as: is he an alcoholic?, How does he handle things emotionally at work and at home?, Etc.
Good info. Did your psychiatrist give any info of thinking to you thinking you’ll be ok and good to go for the job?
I asked and as they can't speak to what the flight surgeon will actually decide they did say they've seen people that have failed the mmpi with arrests records and other issues still make it. Also said that they didn't think there is any concerning.

Has anyone been selected for the NY location/N90? Anyone in OKC know if any NYers are in their classes?
The N90 bid is separate from this allsrce bid. There is a class full of N90 kids in the room next door to mine.
There are a couple people from NY (including one from the NYC area) in my class at the moment.

Just got a May 23rd class date. Looking at the faa catalog that looks to be Enroute. So excited. Have some important personal plans that weekend and will try and delay by a couple weeks if possible
It seems the majority of people either need, or would at least strongly prefer, a later class date than what they’re initially offered. I don’t get why HR doesn’t just schedule classes further out.

Obviously we’re all gonna do what we gotta do, but it is tough when you’re left waiting in pre-employment for an unknown period of time (could be days, weeks, or months) and then out of the blue, you’re asked to uproot and report within 2-4 weeks. Some people don’t even have a chance to put a proper notice in with their current employer.

Because they need to fill classes and get people to facilities ASAP. 2-4 weeks is plenty of time to give notice to employers...

I’d highly advise getting the academy as soon as you can. It will affect your seniority at your facility and how long you’ll have to wait in order to start the stages of training.

It's just a weird mix. Like they send that questionnaire to your employers, so they know you're leaving.. But every week or two after that you get subtle hints from a boss asking "sooo.... when you leaving?" and you don't have an answer.

At the same time, kinda of hard to just be "in limbo" for months and not go about your life and plan for weddings/vacations, etc. Regardless, they seem to be flexible so in the end doesn't matter.

Just had a surprise visit by my security investigator at work claiming that I had a prior felony for burglary when I was 17 which is untrue. So I guess I need to some digging and find out what has happened.
Just found out the case was registered under my social security number which makes this process more fun...

There's currently a massive backlog of academy graduates just waiting around at N90, as well as a massive backlog of new hires with N90 TOLs waiting for class dates in OKC. Currently all N90 class dates are filled through the end of the fiscal year, so the earliest you'd probably get to OKC would be October, but there are dozens of other also waiting for that class, so it could be much later.

so some N90 folks are going to the same basics classes as the rest of us OTSers? Not just classes with only N90ers?

No - anyone going to N90 will be in separate N90-only classes for their entire time in OKC. He's talking about people who just happen to be from NYC but applied to the general bid, and they won't be going to N90.

Question for the group - I just heard back from my medical POC that I need to go find a HIMS psych provider on my own dime. Any of the old guard have information about this?

So after all my clearances came in my HR POC was switched to TH, originally KH. Has this happened to anyone else? Hoping to hear from her today but idk if a POC switch affects anything, timing-wise.

I had KH as well, I asked her for an update today and got an email back saying they are still waiting on my medical and the my new POC was TH. Hopefully it doesn't hold anything up anymore than things already have been.

Interesting, same switch. Maybe KH is taking a vacation or something lol

Thank you guys for this info!! I am half disappointed but half relieved. Seems like both my bid and my app are the issue. I'll just move on with my life then lol. Cheers.
