Just received an offer via email from my HR POC (LM) for enroute class starting 7/31. I have requested a later date but don't know yet if this will be approved

question to you guys who've received an FOL, did you get notification via email or a call from HR? Did you receive notification from each individual POC about your clearance before hearing from HR?

Email. I reached out the my security POC. My medical POC called me because her system was showing I hadn't completed my drug test or MMPI. I gave her the dates I completed them and got my FOL less than two weeks later.

This is why I refuse to sit back and wait for them. I was told to retake a drug test 2 months before my current one expired, and when I questioned it, they said nevermind ignore that....lol

I got my FOL via email from my HR POC. Medical wanted some more documentation from me so I was in contact with them and they told me when I was cleared. Security also let me know. I feel like I have been lucky because I have gotten responses from all of my POCs within 1 day of me reaching out for whatever reason.

I've been offered the opportunity to travel outside the state I live in for work, but since I don't know when the medical clearance and FOL will come, I have to turn it down. The travel time is "undetermined", but was told generally 3-5 months travel time. Just praying the good Lord sees how tired I am of this current employer and throws me a bone!

Why wouldn't you take the offer and then just turn your two weeks in when you DO receive the FOL? Unless it's something contractual that would bring a penalty against you for terminating it early I don't see any reason not to?

You may feel pretty bad come 5 months from now when you haven't gotten a FOL but the job would have been completed already.

It's contractual, and let's just say that i'd be the biggest POS for taking it when there's several guys with less seniority than me that would KILL to go do this project (near the beach, hotel and food covered, etc).

I actually got a call from HR before I received my email. HR called me and asked if I wanted the July 11 class date and I said yes. Then the next day they sent me my FOL.

All email for me, my POC actually stated emails were the quickest way to have contact and get responses.

All my clearances I dug for. None contacted me. None actually answered me either, only my hr POC let me know after I asked every couple of weeks.

Quite depressing that the only way to get answers is to feel like you're bugging people for them.

Definitely, although I did speak once or twice to my HR POC on the phone and she was super chill about it. She even told me to email every week if it helped me “through” the process.

I understand. Unfortunately you have to decide whether it's more meaningful to be the "nice guy" and not take the job just in case your FOL comes through, or do what is best for you at this moment in time and take the job and, if required, quit during the job.

I'm in a similar situation where I am currently doing an internship which will likely end with a job offer (assuming I'm as good as I think I am) in the first week of August. I'm also waiting for my Tier 2 eval to be looked at and approved/denied (2 months waiting already) and would hate to accept a position with my current company and leave within a couple months for a job that I applied to 2 years ago now.

Yeah the limbo status you're in between the TOL and FOL is sorta annoying. It's like, you know you're selected for the job, but you have to proceed as if you don't have the job until an unknown time. I had to notify my boss about the questionnaire, and he admitted that if he hadn't been warned about it, he would have likely tossed it. I am in a position to where I can stay home and make less money, or take the road trip job for a few months and make some killer money while my wife and kid stay on the beach. If I took the road job, the company I work for would be paying for all expenses ahead of time, and ensuring the client that i'd be available for any emergencies/outages (I work for business telecom). So for me to cancel mid way and leave the job, for someone else to pick up where I left off is not financially feasible for them. My boss approached me and said "so are ya going or what? Need to know by July 8th." I pretty much told him it isn't looking like I'm taking it.

I think I fucked up the "intermediate vision" part of my make-up eye exam lol.

20/20 for near and distant...20/50 for intermediate. Wish my eye doctor spoke up, I don't struggle to see things at that distance at all, I just recall the doc rushing that part of the test. I didn't look over the results until after we left (my test ran long and we were actually holding up other patients...)

I'm all for a redo if it's necessary...I read that they don't typically factor intermediate vision until you're past 50.
