Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Took my ATSA yesterday. I don’t know if it’s been pointed out yet, but for the people who are doing this for the first time: pay attention to EXACTLY what forms of identification they tell you to bring. To everything, including the ATSA, your physical, etc. The only other person who I was supposed to test with had to leave because he had a driver license and a local government ID. The government ID was invalid because it was not signed and had no expiration date. Pay attention to the details in this entire process, because the FAA does not baby you. If the instructions are unclear, CALL/EMAIL AND ASK QUESTIONS.

Adding to that always bring extra...I brought social, birth certification, and voters card along with my state ID and drivers license

But that feeling must suck to be turned around and have to wait till next year, and who knows what challenges they'll add to the bid then.

Another thing I just noticed which scared the hell outta me is if your over 26 and never registered for selective service you can not have a federal job or training, luckily to receive FAFSA I had to in 2011 so if your shaky like me you can look it up online

AFAIK, Isn't selective service required when you turn 18 if you are a male? Females can opt out but I always thought I didn't have a choice, I was signed up.

I always thought I didn't have a choice

You don't "have a choice" per se but (as Deejay says) there's nothing automatic about it, either you sign up yourself or someone signs up for you if you get financial aid. You're supposed to let them know every time your address changes too...

Y'all... Just took the ATSA. Took me about 2 hours out of the available 3 hours and 20 minutes to take it including a 10 minute break (allowed 30 minutes for breaks). My brain is tired. lol

Just took the ATSA Thursday. Good tip is on the A=3 B=4 C=2 part I used my left hand fingers to save A, right hand fingers as B and kept repeating C. That test is nuts can’t tell you if I passed or failed but I can tell you there is little to no use of studying for it. I was the first one to finish out of 6 guys could be a good or bad sign. Now comes the waiting!

Only downside is when you get equations
for A and B..but you should know if you passed or failed. I kept a mental note of any I missed plus how many questions there were and I predict my score between 85-90...this is one of those test you know when you answered incorrectly and when you got it right

I know I got about half right on the final abc with arithmetic test, guessed my way through the end of the impossible radar test with about 5 collisions but felt comfortable with paragraph comprehension. Honestly I felt like I scored in the 70 range but prior people who passed on here have kept my hopes alive with their similar experiences.

Sound like you did better than most so hopefully the TOL gods favor us.

Took the test the other day:

Differences : Pretty sure i missed about 1 or 2 each one, just from zoning out. Other than that did really well.
Memorization: Might have missed 1 or 2 total on the first part just from misclicking or something. On the second part with the equations, I might have missed one, but am pretty sure I aced it for the most part.
Spatial Awareness: Missed I think 2 on the first part, and the part with the eye had a bad streak that kind of snowballed, maybe missed 4 but I think 3 total.
Collisions: Only part of the first half of the test I felt shakey. First part was great, second part I had maybe 3 or 4 collissions, and plenty where I removed more balls than needed. The math was ridiculous and I maybe got 8 or 9 questions total right.
BioQ: Redudant to try and get you to slip up. Still unsure why we had to take that.
Word Problems: Hard as shit. Overthinking killed me here. Hoping I got 14 but guessing I got about 10/20.
Reading Comprehension: Tried to trip us up for no reason with dumb wording and vague questions. Still feel good about that part. Maybe missed 2 or 3.

Overall I feel really good about it based on how well I did on Memorization with formulas and the spatial awareness. But even then, don't really have my hopes up cause there's no point in that. The waiting game is miserable though.

Took the test today, Question for the first part on the memory subtraction game I was only quizzed for 5 sections on this part and not 8? Did anyone else also not take 8 sections?

It's really hit and miss..some people did alot and some didnt, ik I did 8, but does it mean we got more right, who knows

Took it today, honestly this is how I felt. Missed 2 or 3 differences due to fat fingering or zoning out, don’t think I missed any memorization, spatial awareness missed 2 or 3, collision I had 4 total, not happy about that, the math in collision was just guessing at a glance.

The word problems are the toughest part by far, and there’s no real way to study or prep for them. Feel pretty good overall though

Just took the ATSA and I have a question regarding Veteran’s preference and how it’s applied to the test. Is it added to the overall score?
I would think so but I guess we have to wait for the more knowledgeable guys to respond to this. But I don’t see any other reason why it takes a month to find out if we pass or fail a computerized test, other than HR having enough time to add and subtract points from our scores.

Yes it is. If you got an 85 on the ATSA, and have 10 vet pref points, your ATSA score is bumped up to a 95.
Not sure what happens if the vet pref points would take you over 100, but I assume it's just capped out at 100 as the top score.

So far it seems like the reading comprehension part is straight forward, but I don't understand what's actually in the logic portion of the exam. Are they just sequencing questions? Meaning you have to place 5-6 components in order using the clues they give you and answer the questions they ask. Or is it a mix of other types logic questions? And if that's the case, can someone elaborate on what they are??

You read a passage and you answer 1-3 questions about what you read. The authors viewpoint, the positives and negatives, etc.
