Privatization is a great thing, it is the only way you will ever see any accountability whatsoever for inept management and decision making, small towers more aggressively shut down and employees relocated to higher need (and nicer) places, and the only way you will ever see cuts to non-essential staff that we don’t need (how many people do you see always sent home for weeks during a shut down and things like COVID, do you ever notice they are gone) and then those resources redirected someplace else that is needed.
But I’m mostly here to address the endorsement thing. I think it was fascinating the way they endorsed Clinton. If you were around during the Obama days or before, NATCA feverishly endorsed the Democrat, constantly reminding people to vote, even suggesting they should help with the campaign or donate, getting it in the media, etc....
They endorsed Clinton but it was so strange, it was almost like a small bullet point in a long quarterly update email. There was none of that high motivation and in your face endorsing I have seen. NATCA is super smart with this and I think they read the membership. They know controllers were almost split down the middle between Trump and Clinton, while in the past 90% backed Obama. Rather then piss off half the membership with a in your face campaign, they gave Clinton the token endorsement like almost all unions but just left it at that.
Brilliant.
