There are a growing number of Bargaining Unit Employees across the board who are leaving the Union. This Mafioso organization has harmed the Agency, BUEs, Non-paying members, Operations Supervisors, and the flying public on a grand scale. Have you been affected negatively by this cult? Likely you have. Or have you been brainwashed by these idiots into thinking NATCA is the greatest thing since Jesus? Either way, let’s look at some cons of keeping this douche-bag club around:

1. Defends terrible employees under the precept of “It’s about the process.”

2. Delays institution of new technologies into the NAS.

3. Prevents the institution of new and novel ideas in the workforce.

4. Spends your $2,000 a year dues on parties and lobbyists in D.C.

5. Prevents management from doing their basic duties of job.

6. Sidelines non-paying members from work groups.

7. Forces you to agree to their stupid “collaboration” agreements, with no input from the actual workforce.

8. Ensures their “buddies” get all the good jobs and boondoggles.

9. Has a “right” to cuss-out supervisors and harm relations in the name of “spirited debate.”

10. Are generally the sleaziest people you know who actually support this idiotic union. Do you really want to be associated with these fools?

These are only a handful of reasons not to be in NATCA. I would like to propose that we work together to start the process of de-certifying this union. They do not serve a purpose, and they need to go. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) allows us to sign a petition to begin the de-certification process. We will need 30% of the controller workforce to sign in order to get the ball rolling. After the petition is approved, we will need 50% of the workforce to cast a vote for de-certification.

This may be an up-hill process, but do not be discouraged! Almost DOUBLE the organizations that vote to de-certify their unions WIN!!! It’s true. Unions lose about 65% of the time. How awesome is that?!

We will have to work together on this. We have to make our own posters and post at our facilities. You cannot use government equipment or supplies to do so.

So what are you waiting for? Let us know in the comments what you think, and start spreading the word that this could be a real possibility. NATCA will fight back, but who cares? They’re idiots that don’t even wash their hands after they take a dump. If enough of you respond positively to this thread, then I will create an online petition form. There are about 14,500 controllers in the FAA. So we will need about 4,350 petition signatures and 7,250 yes votes. Tough, but possible.

What will we do when dirtbag NATCA is destroyed you may ask? Anything we want! No more stupid contract rules that make no sense. We can decide if we want to be union free, or we can make a brand new union that we can vote to institute. With new rules that can all be satisfied with. We can make it better. Out with the old, and in with the new! Solidarity! Haha!

Since you’re in ATL, you may remember a few years ago the Delta pilots made a run against ALPA/big national union, with DPA, small in-house union. It failed, barely, but the result was that it rattled ALPA’s cage enough that they suddenly became more responsive, accountable to the members. Might have a similar affect with ATC?

"5. Prevents management from doing their basic duties of job."

Examples of this include? Personally all I have seen is NATCA making sure management goes by the contract. Is your problem that the contract keeps management from doing whatever it wants? Because I have seen what some management wants... and it was straight terrible.

I for one believe it’s every BUE’s right to withdrawal from union membership if he/she chooses to do so. That said, I can’t ever get on board with doing away with any Union.

Believe it or not, there was a time when people were worked 7 days a week, no weekends, no sick days, no vacation etc. Labor unions were the ones who came up with the general labor models of today and pretty much every place of employment (Union or not) has followed suit.

My previous job before the agency was blasting limestone in a room/pillar mine working 13.5 hr days 6 days a week as a normal schedule with no breaks including lunch! Needless to say that place was without union collaboration.

There’s a lot of us in here who take a bunch of what we do everyday for granted!

I have seen some dumb ideas in this job, number one is rolling a 737 infront of a 767 inside of a 3 mile final, but this might just be number 2.
Don’t forget including a DALR time blocks worth of RVR readings.
