Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-22-ATCEXP-80642

My list from today.
I'm biased and it depends what you're really looking for but I think SGF might be the best place on that list. Level 7 with a 1 year cpc time, good cost of living, not super competitive to bid out and you have the best experience you can get on that list to make you an attractive candidate for anywhere you want to go. If you want the quickest cert and bid out, go to DAY and get certified in 2 weeks.

I worked SGF back 2015-2017, I have nothing bad about the facility to say the least, granted I was fortunate to come on the back end of all the old guys retiring, they also just released 3 this past NCEPT panel. There are moments where I am very nostalgic for SGF and Branson in general due to some of the people I met. Traffic wise when I was leaving Ozark Tech was starting a flight school (which helped them get their 7) and the airport in general continues to grow. The ATM leaves something to be desired though, maybe he will mellow with years, only time will tell. The advice I can offer you, do not bid anything levels 8-10, go higher to 11/12 for your career.

I'd love SGF as it's 2 hours from mine and wife's family in two separate states. Most I can get is, "in queue for medical."

Currently at SGF. That ATM you are talking about is long gone now ( Thank God). Place is much more chill now.

For those of you guys getting lists, what seems to be the earliest to latest start dates? 30 days? 60? Long enough to not panic pack, research new city, get a house/apartment?

The earliest is just under 2 months from the day you get picked. The furthest offered is just under 3 months.

If you need longer, it’s easy to get longer.

How long have you been waiting? And what’s your availability date?
Tl;dr: not long overall, and I put down available 3rd week of May. So, eta is mid April using the rumors of military list drops.

Long story: In the grand scheme of things, not too long; finished my medical and security in late January. The issue isn't waiting per say, but rather trying to get TMO [USAF movers] to get scheduled in time to get my house moved. Alas, I can't get a packing date without knowing where/when to go. If the distance is long, I need to estimate how much extra I'll have to pay out of pocket/save if it goes beyond my home of record distance. As a double whammy, local TMO are currently at 21 days "pre-warning" time with expectations to hit 30~45+ the closer to May/PCS season it gets. I've heard rumors it could get to 90 if it falls in June/July, but that far out they cannot guarantee it so. Current base is a retirement-frenzy headquarters, so many leave to other states come summer.

As such, I got ye ol' terminal slated the 1st full week of May or so, but my actual availability was 3rd week - just to give padding of 15 days to house hunt/rent hunt/pack/move. Normally, some of this moving dilemma could be avoided by slapping a Uhaul and bringing enough bare bone basics, but... Well, the car has no hitch and I have limited to zero experience in driving trucks. Thought about getting help from family to do a duo road trip, but they live too far to help and it's too big of a burden for them anyhow.

Basically, I need TMO and they won't pack my house without me physically there.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm cool waiting for April so long as there's enough time to have movers and the new living space dealt with. I'm just worrying about TMO run up time. A 90 day backlog in summer PCS season is my biggest fear, as my 'show up to work' date could be cutting it reaaaaally close.

I haven't even thought about the horror that would be buying my first ever house [*if* I go that route].

I’m in the exact same boat, my EAOS is 30 May and I’ve got the same fears with navy movers. lol Have basically been told I’m going to have to wing it. Which is…… unnerving.

My EAOS was about a year ago, and I got out during the start of PCS season. I walked into the moving office (forgot what it’s called) and had a full moving truck at my house less than 2 weeks later. Stuff delivered 4 days after that. The process was so easy.

I’ve had really good luck every time I’ve had to move but I just have a feeling that if I’m going to hit some hiccups with DPS/housing it will absolutely be this time around. ?

TMO should allow you to designate someone to be there to “release” your household goods that way you can still push forward with your move. If they don’t that’s kind bs.

I tried to go to TMO today to ask about my options - such as maybe getting the pre-briefing completed, getting a grasp on the current calendar, and if I can tentatively schedule without a destination [yet] - but they had a sign that said 'open from 9-3.' It was 3. xD

You should just do a PPM move (you move yourself), hire a pod company to come get all your stuff. They can store your pod at a location until you know where you are moving. Once you get your location you contact them to move it where and when. That’s what I’m doing personally
