Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-22-ATCEXP-80642

You should just do a PPM move (you move yourself), hire a pod company to come get all your stuff. They can store your pod at a location until you know where you are moving. Once you get your location you contact them to move it where and when. That’s what I’m doing personally
What if you’re trying to get max money from the government?

The government will get every ounce of value out of you it can for as cheap as possible. Faulting people for maximizing what they can get from them in return is wild.
No. I totally understand VA disability, using active and vet benefits to the max, but going out of your way to get one over on a PCS move is bottom of the barrel. Don’t forget to ransack the head for some free toilet paper on your way out.

Hello, I'm from the government, and I'm here to help.

He'll fit right into the FAA
Hope I never have to run into that crowd. Met some dudes in the Navy who worked harder at skipping work / scamming the Gov. than actually working.

Dudes loading bags of concrete into their Uhaul pre-move in order to get a bigger payout. Stuff like that, why?

I wouldn’t even compare the guy trying to make a few more bucks from a move equivalent to any of those comparisons. We all want a few extra bucks and if we can get it moving our own stuff or being told “do it this way” it really doesn’t hurt anything.
Just an idea as to why he “will fit in”. It’s just the small things us working folk can do to take back a little of what we put in.

I mean I’m honestly still getting the navy to move me since I’m going cross country. All I did was ask a question ??‍♂️

“The military takes so much from us, it’s okay to get as much from them as possible” might be the most played out and bland line ever, especially in this career field.

How about, the military GAVE you free training for a career that will pay you back handsomely over the course of your life? For a measly 4-5 years of service?

Fuck me for thinking the military moving you FOR FREE isn’t enough. Glad to see I’m in the minority for frowning on this behavior/mindset. The future is bright!

You'll go far... Don't forget to bid an FLM spot ASAP.

You’re literally judging someone for asking a question in a trusted online forum. You’re probably the guy that goes on r/atc just to troll people that genuinely need guidance on how to get into the FAA.

I think we have a different idea of “free”. First of all I think I can speak for most ex-military controllers that are pretty grateful for the training received, it’s a one of a kind career field. However at the end of the day no one owes anyone anything and if their are programs in place that pay you to move and you can make more based on how you do it, why not take advantage of it?

Yes, you will come out on top to self move, as the amount paid is pretty generous to encompass pretty much any movers cost. That is fine. But let’s not pretend that the TONE of his comment portrayed “I’m actively trying to get one over.” It’s not as simple as black and white, words on paper.

By all means, move yourself. You’ll likely make some $. But come on, don’t rip me because I can read a comment and understand the motive behind the words.

After you get an FLM slot, for every hour of overtime you save the agency (make sure to run minimal manning, 15 minute breaks, and full facility rotation), it increases your performance metrics and increases your bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
