Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-22-ATCEXP-80642

I want to say our prior exp is what got us the locations on the list. The airport you get should be based on preference and earliest security clearance date.
Yes your prior experience was what decided if you got up to whatever level they cap you for facilities. I highly doubt they care at all about clearance date.

They have an SOP saying that preference is given to those with the longest security clearance date. Ie if you've been waiting longer you get your number one over someone else with a newer security clearance date. #perksoftier2

The "SOP previous experience placement?" I'm not seeing where it says that? Even control F'd.

Edit: ok I found it. You guys keep saying security clearance making me think I'm ahead of everyone because they used my FAA one from 5 years ago. It says pre-employment clearance. Not sure if that's the same thing.

I see that now. I remember reading this a long time ago and a bunch people on here have been saying security clearance so I must have confused it with that. Idk what exactly they mean by preemployment clearance. You went with iad and bwi right?

No no just didn't know anything about them. My top 3 are DAL, CVG, and PUB. I hope I'm not contesting you with any of those. I didn't see anyone else other than us with 8s and 9s

Can I ask what your experience was that got you 8s and 9s? I've got a military en route cert at one of the busiest bases in the AF, but I don't know if they really give a shit about that.

My experience was DOV (Radar for 5 & Tower for 4 years) I was offered those levels as well. I think a lot of it has to do with the pool of candidates you apply with, and your experience (facilities, years, positions, etc). These 2 documents help determine what level the FAA considers each military equivalent and a formula to help determine how they score their applicant's experience.

They don't. Everyone says "My facility is one of the busiest." I was prior military and FAA 11 years total. When I applied straight out of the military after 6 it was all 7s and below. I think the years is what helped me this time.

DAL, CHS, BHM. Good luck. I thought I was safe when you were asking about BWI and IAD.
Lol I figured. DAL being on a list is kinda insane. Had to put it at 1. Good luck.

I'm sure a lot of people say it, but looking at the yearly traffic count numbers, we were literally number two lol. I've almost given up trying to plan for what facilities I might get offered. Just gonna have to wait and see I suppose. A friend of mine from the same facility got offered like three 10s, but I'm starting to realize that it might just have had to do with his timing.

Tyndall AFB dual qual, currently work at a slow fct.
I wonder if Eglin counted Tyndall traffic on their radar side. They were the only ones to beat us number-wise at Nellis.

Eglin definitely has a unique way to count traffic. Are they complex? Absolutely. But they definitely aren’t the busiest, in my opinion. I worked the airspace next to them for 6 years and even worked in their facility for almost 6 months after a hurricane destroyed Tyndall.

I got 8s and 9s from KCBM RAPCON back when they were 340K+. My friends got 10s on theirs, but my security got delayed so I didn't have them.

I'll say this. I worked with a guy at my level 6 from nellis radar. I don't think he got offered above 7s. I also know a guy that only worked Ellsworth radar and went to A80. I think it can sometimes be a crapshoot. My best advice is research the places you're offered and look for good staffing preferably tower only if they'll let you pick it. Don't just pick something that you think you would like but doesn't have good staffing because you'll never be able to leave.

I heard they count each a/c in a flight as a single operation. So a flight of 4 gets counted as 4 separate. Idk tho, this is just what I heard when I was in and that they aren’t that busy.

Fwiw, I was at one of the slower RAPCONs for 5 years and then Korea for my last and I got a few standalone TRACONs like U90, Y90, A11, and maybe a few others then a bunch of 7s and below on a list of 35ish facilities. So you probably will get higher levels (8-10) but the list will consist of mainly 7s and below. Last lvl 12 I saw on a list was a guy from Nellis and Osan and he got offered P50(not sure if they’re a 12 or an 11) but he didn’t get it. Got like FSM or some low level facility in Texas.

.
I was always under the assumption that’s how Nellis counted as well. In and out of MOAs, all counted as separate operations?

Nah, I didn’t get anything higher than 7’s. Radar only Tyndall people got screwed because of the dip in traffic after the Hurricane. All my old coworkers got lists with like level 10+ tracons until 2019. Now you’ll only get higher than 7’s if you were dual qualified.

Damn, that sucks. But honestly your “dream”/retirement facility won’t be on a list. Best bet is to get in, CPC, put in paperwork, and pray you get lucky.

I wish I could go to a tower only place, but all three of my tickets are radar/gca unfortunately.
