These downgrades disproportionately effect the bottom of the pay bands, I’m sure tour sitting pretty in a center TMU job someplace and say “let um eat cake”. Plenty of terminal facilities spent years in the red before getting downgraded. That's all available information displayed in the aap portal. The starkest difference actually so far is when a terminal facility goes green for 3 months they start the upgrade process and the enroute facilities due for an upgrade have been SOL for years. We save pay in a downgrade. There are 500-700 controllers that missed out on a 6% raise, to be compiled upon, for years now. Costing the membership a boatload is lost wages. But when you're wishing a perceived hardship to be shared you're not very interested in the collective I guess.Tower and Tracon controllers have not been treated the same as Center controllers when it comes specifically to downgrades. Which fits the narrative, because it is the narrative.
That said, If someone has not been subjected to the same severe austerity measures, its reasonable that they would be defensive about any implication of the relative unfairness of that. So I understand the pushback
