POS Duffy to Controllers...:

“My message to the air traffic controllers who work for DOT is show up for work. You have a job to do.” I dare him to walk into any facility right now and stay that.

Let’s think for a bit. ATC is credited, correctly ot not with ending the longest shutdown in 2019 by sicking out. Took 35 days. That perception matters.

It’s been a week (without even a missed or short paycheck yet, though that’s coming) and there’s staffing triggers all over and some places have gone ATC zero like Burbank (overnight but still). Do you think the admin doesn’t recognize this vulnerability? Do you think they won’t try to drop the hammer regardless or contracts or policies if something embarrassing happens? Or do you think they will care this time?

If you get targeted by the admin for unlawful job action (since that’s the most severe thing they could likely go after you for) do you really trust Dick Naniels and NATCAnt to protect you with everything they got, or would they fold like a card table to “collaborate” and sacrifice a few “troublemakers” to keep their scam going?

Once the agency suspends you without pay, even if they don’t do it the right way procedurally, you can’t really get that undone via the courts until whatever happened is finally settled, it can take years. I wouldn’t necessary say trust the government to look out for you, but I don’t see natca leadership putting their balls on the table for you either.

Again, all bets are off. In the current situation, all laws are subject to being invalidated by an executive order. The courts may or may not intervene, but even court orders are being ignored. Oh well we got ourselves into this situation and I'm not sure if we even have the means to get ourselves out of it.

BUR went ATC zero in the evening from like 4-10 then the mid came in.

My dad texted me this morning saying he was watching MSNBC and Duffy said any atc who doesn’t come in will be fired. I didn’t see the interview or report and haven’t been able to verify what he actually said. Did anyone else catch it?

He said that if people aren’t loyal to the cause we will
Get rid of them or something.

That’s helps proves my point. Do you think natca can, will be able to, or will risk defending you specifically and individually if the admin tries to come after you? If it’s a massive amount of people that get burned, natca might try to mount a defense, but if the admin tries to pick only a couple of examples to make, I wouldn’t bet on natca having my back, were I unlucky enough to be in those crosshairs in the first place.

The question now is what is NATCA even fighting for? As far as I can tell they are only working on NATCA. Like the union is more important than the members now n

Exactly. We agree. Natca will absolutely throw a few controllers under the bus if the admin comes after them, while saying “we told you so” and “we can’t do anything” in order to keep up their scam. For that reason, I wouldn’t fuck with this admin on playing chicken with anything that even resembles coordinated sick leave, sickouts etc.

The detail people have come back to the facility. I mean they aren't working the boards, can't help on poorly staffed days, but ya know super important stuff

Bare minimum there should be transparency on how many details there are, what they are, what they do, how many hours a pay period they are excused, who they are staffed by and how long they have been staffing it
They should have to stay current. Let them do it at a sup 8hrs id you must.
