ready to talk about furloughs yet?

What is it you want out of people? Do you want them to worry about something that hasn't been decided? Do you want to preemptively declare "this sucks"?

Or, somehow, do you think by having a discussion here we can make an impact, like we did for training?

You realize you could've not brought up furloughs for over 3 months later than you did and we'd be in the same place.

lmao the salt when we finally get to train. WELL YOU BETTER DO A GOOD JOB. Lmfao. Bruh yah we out here bitching but we gonna give it 2 %.

Nah this thread is good. It’s tough running a forum like this with only a hundred active users or so. Everyone just talks about whatever whenever. I’ve seen it on a lot of smaller forums. Still way better than reddit.
Is it “free leave” or should I know the .65, front to back, without hesitation?
Personally, I learn best by doing. Reading doesn’t do anything for me. It doesn’t stick. So I could read it over and over, all day, every day, for 8 hours, and I’ll get nothing out of it. Memorizing does nothing without putting it to practice. I’ve been out of my facility almost as long as I’ve been in the agency. Regardless of how much studying anyone’s been doing, it’s going to be a sluggish return. People don’t just take 6 months off of a job and come back 100% proficient.

This. So much this. I’ve kept up with almost everything there is to keep up with. But I know when I do get back to the lab it’s gonna look like a freight train wreck. I haven’t messed with anything practical in months(just as many others haven’t) and honestly, I probably still won’t for another couple of months at least. All we have are ideas or concepts, or mind games, nothing to actually know how to implement it in real life.

I feel bad for those who haven’t kept up with the “simple” things for the last six months. That is assuming we don’t completely restart stage 3 from the beginning once back in the facility.

And who knows when that will be? It's cool that they are talking more about starting training, but when there's 60 people in front of you in line, it doesn't mean much.

2025 if you're lucky. Better hope NATCA keeps fighting for you to get paid at home. /s

let's start adding up all the money trainees are losing so that CPCs can stay on their 5/5 indefinitely. it's more than "just a couple dollars."
I’m a trainee. I’m on your side. I, too, was being sarcastic. Sorry I forgot my /s for ya

Yeah, exactly. Even if training started today, I was into my first week into the dysim, so odds are I’ll get completely restarted not to mention reduced capacity on the floor and in the sims when those open. I’ll be screwed along with everybody else in this situation.

But for a CPC, the pros far outweigh the cons except for the couple extreme penny pinchers out there. Being on 5/5 or 5/10 and not having to train, for MOST, outweighs the couple lost diffs of a few night diffs or Sunday pays.
Meanwhile, trainees are not only losing that, they're losing holidays, raises, years off their TSP matching which would've been higher, potentially their high 3/5, etc.
CPCs are losing PENNIES compared to the THOUSANDS trainees are losing. If this was all for "safety" - i could maybe understand. It's becoming pretty clear "safety" is just an excuse at this point. If I can "safely" go out to dinner, or I can "safely" go car shopping, or I can "safely" go get a haircut, I'm pretty sure the agency can figure out a way to safety train (and I personally believe they have and NATCA is blocking it).

The only trainees that are 100% missing out on money are those that received a recommendation prior to the schedule change, but didn't get a checkride. Everyone else is just assuming they may have been checked out. There's no doubt that some of y'all would've probably gotten a recommendation, but it wasn't guaranteed.

For me personally I've been ready to go back to 5/2 for a while. When this started we were told we would only be recalled in an emergency situation to maintain 2 separate crews, but that went away. 5/5 turned into 5/2 or 5/3 with last minute calls for coverage to approve spot leave.

I do agree with the fact that training absolutely should've kept going at facilities that could maintain social distancing. I'm guessing it may be easier to do this at towers than Tracons and centers IDK.

32andBelow you are already probably making at least 15k more than me, so try that argument with someone else.

With the length this has gone on your either would have certified or washed on whatever side you were working on. And no matter what way you slice it it adds 6 months minimum to your total training time.

this has gone on as long as it took to cert on all of my d sides from 0 hours
