Can we argue about guns again?

My boy Benitez is making so many gun control babies sore with his accurate comparisons of the AR-15 to a Swiss Army knife. Can’t wait for this ruling to get to
SCOTUS and be affirmed, LAX here I come!
I’m not going to get into whether he’s right or not because I have a complicated relationship with gun control laws but man this opinion is absurd. He says that mass shootings with ARs are rare but also that the ban is a failed experiment because they still happen. Wtf lol. He also outs himself as an anti vaxxer. This is definitely getting smacked down by the 9th circuit, we’ll see if the new look Supreme Court will hear it after. They have declined to hear assault weapon ban cases in the past.

In a limited time frame, maybe. But given a 10-20 year span, consider traffic doubling, or shrinking by half or less. wouldn’t this affect needed ATC #’s? I might be wrong here
you are part of the last generation or two of controllers. This job won't exist in 30 years, at least not in the capacity it does now. It'll all be computers sending messages to other computers and a "controller" monitoring and going "yep, looks good from here". I fully expect to see something akin to this implemented by the time I retire.

Im guessing when that happens the need for bodies is going to dwindle, regardless of volume increases.
Anyone that thinks the issue is simple shouldn't be allowed to share their opinion in the first place, yet they seem to be the loudest voices out there controlling the discussion.
Yes, or requires a lot of nuance, much like every other dems are communists/orange man bad discussion that happens on here. Hasn't stopped anyone yet....

That said, this one in particular gets muddied up pretty bad by people who know nothing about firearms spouting bad statistics and latching on to sensationalized media and missing the real issues, which have a lotore to do with social dynamics and mental health than the inanimate object people's rage gets focused on.

I think you’re right about center high sectors and class A airspace but approach and low level sectors will always have smaller planes that aren’t equipped for that kind of thing so you’ll need people talking to them.

I think he explains himself quite eloquently. Mass shootings still happen because of the people, not the gun, and the ban is cosmetic-based and statistically ineffective, therefore it should be repealed due to no statistical justification.

An AWB case before scotus is long overdue, it’s time to get rid of them nationwide, and this case is a good vehicle to do so.

I mean aside from a direct means of transferring the messages the plane doesn't need anything but a transponder/ads-b. A lot of GA planes are getting clearances delivered to a tablet already like they have PDC onboard as I understand, so it's not like the tech isn't there.

Lacking that, the computer can still make a decision and the "controller" just transmits it on the radio as we do now.

I'll concede the ga/low altitude aircraft would be the big barrier to system-wide change, particularly tower ops, but it's not insurmountable by people much smarter than me, and the FAA can mandate equipment changes just like they did with adsb.

End of the day big time automation is coming, and the job is going to completely change, and the number of people needed to do the job is gonna go way way down, particularly the higher paying center jobs with large staffing requirements, versus the Lower paying GA focused tower jobs.

10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

2nd Amendment: exists.

Federal Government: oof, we don't wanna be responsible for THAT; we have to get re-elected! States... talk amongst yourselves.

*Edit* Here is my first proposed gun reform law:

You see this TX legislation to remove suppressors from the no no nfa list in the state?

Never really struck me as something that would be done, but if states can (rightfully so) legalize Marijuana I don't see why they couldn't do the same with nfa items. That would also be big time and I'm sure lots of places would follow suit.

Checking back in on the thread after being away for several days:

The level of gymnastics the left is using to paint over a riot with a label of insurrection is unreal, especially the conspiracy theories with things like Sicknik’s death.

I'd say an investigation into the who what how and why would settle if it was in fact an uncoordinated spontaneous riot but I guess we will never know since the people who would've benefited most from the alleged failed coup decided investigating it was unimportant.
