Better than the university’s mAking billions off slave labor!
I'm not gonna say I completely disagree, but getting a scholarship to attend college for free or at drastically reduced cost to play a kids game ain't slave labor.

That said, I'm for them getting a group stipend based off school football income and individuals getting a portion of jersey sales. Endorsement deals and the inevitable pay to play? Not so much
Join the club of greatest programs in history lol. For real it blew my mind that OU wanted to join the SEC, I feel like they went from a guaranteed conference championship game to fighting just to be in the top 3 of the SEC. But I guess if you want to be the best play in the best conference.

Prime example Arch Manning, that kid will be a millionaire just of his last name.
It's all them SEC bux.... that and getting rid of all the shitty 11am kicks hahaha

Literally maybe the dumbest thing you have ever said on this forum.
Not really!

Yah they throw them a little bone that costs them nothing and then market the hell out of them. How is that fair? Plus not all players get scholarships.

An 18 year old recieving $40k+ yearly in scholarships, food, housing, medical care and tudors is plenty. If they don't like those terms, don't go. I know plenty of people who played sports in college for nothing. No one made them. If these kids don't want to play sports and go to school, get a job and/or a student loan. My wife would have killed to have someone pay for her school in exchange for playing a sport. Paying back $100k in loans sucks. And the schools "making millions" "off the kids".... welcome to the real world. Companies use employees to make money. And the vast majority of these athletic programs are in the red yearly. They don't make enough to even support themselves.

25 schools were net positive in 2019

20 College Football Schools In the $100 Million Club

If you want to be mad at someone, be made at the absurd rules put in place by the NFL and NBA which does not allow them to play in their leagues straight out of high school. NHL, MLB, MLS etc all have routes for those who don't want to play in college.

Well obviously the court ruled that it’s not enough.

an adult should be able to sell their name/likeness if it is worth something. They are adults. And while it costs thst much on paper letting a kid sit on a lecture with 300 other kids doesn’t cost the university anything

Ok so you don't actually even know how shit works. At the vassssst majority, if not all public schools, the athletic program is paying the tuition money out of its bank account. The school isn't writing off what is owed, it's actually getting paid. Here is an example from UCLA as it popped up first in the Google machine.
Unlike need-based scholarships, athletic scholarships are awarded to students strictly on the basis of their athletic and academic ability — not their financial need. Athletic scholarships, such as those awarded to football or basketball players, do not rely on state funds. Instead, these scholarships are entirely funded through UCLA Athletics ticket sales, corporate partnerships, media contracts and private donations from supporters.

That scenario can get muddy with a private school.

I ran into someone on a partial scholarship, and the athletic program forgot to pay their amount somehow. The school came after the athlete looking for the money.

The court didn't rule they didn't get paid enough, just that they should be able to sell their likeness, and that the NCAA can't restrict it. Which is garbage if that term is in the contract to play sports. Don't like it, don't play. The ruling was purely emotional, not logic or legally based.

Edit: and I would have zero issue with the ncaa allowing schools to set up a fund which is funded by the athletic program to pay each player like $2k-$3k per semester so they can go buy beer and shit.

It doesn’t matter how the college decides to cook it’s books. The fact is the adult should be able to make money and court agrees

Any rumors on testing procedures for the anti jabbers? And if I don't get the jab, does that mean I don't have to be an ojti anymore?

I don’t think the schools should have to pay the athletes other than scholarships, room/board and food. I do think the kids should be able to profit from their names. Not sure if will impact the game negatively but I’m willing to see where it goes.
