Was he under probation? If not there has to be more to the story there is no way you get fired for that alone.

Nope not under probation close to retirement if I remember correctly. I totally agree there's more to the story but we never heard it. All I know is he was a CPC at an 11, got canned fought for his job got it back then was getting "transferred" to another facility. Since he was terminated he had to go through the security process again and it was taking a while for them to do "a full background check". I think the FAA gave him the option to ride out his retirement in limbo still getting a check.

I know of someone that got fired from a bar fight, but he was rehired after NATCA fought the FAA on it.

Not true. Maybe at certain facilities but it’s not a national rule, it’s just discouraged. For obvious reasons.
