Yeah, they definitely aren’t very lenient with academy people. I mean, OKC is basically one big extended job interview to begin with and it’s definitely used to weed people out, but a questionable shoplifting charge probably doesn’t need to be an automatic termination. The dude that stole the binder had it coming though lol.

Idk what the law says in Oklahoma but everywhere I’ve lived you can’t be guilty of shoplifting without intent. And the only way to prove intent is by showing they attempted to walk past the final checkout area without paying. Guessing that’s probably what happened with her.

Didn’t she out it in her hoodie and forgot but it was like middle of summer and like 110 out

“Under Oklahoma law, larceny of merchandise from a retailer means taking any type of goods or property from a store without paying for it. This could include:
  • Exiting the store with items that have not been paid for
  • Concealing items while inside the store
  • Switching price tags on items”

Imagine being the first person to have to train someone who has been in the Air Force from 18-38 years old and is now on terminal leave starting an FAA job under the Retired Military Controller job bid. No Academy, no way of knowing if they've done anything the last 10 years but sit behind a desk full of plaques w a coffee cup that says My Daddy is in the Air Force!

It would probably be less harmful to those 15 facilities to allow parolees who faced 20-to-life to become janitor. How did those select few places make the list and how do those stuck working there feel about being the lucky recipients? Have fun getting lectured about punctuality, teamwork, dress & appearance, & integrity by these boomers as they attempt to adjust to life in the real world! NATCA I trust will work to protect the working conditions of career employees, not part timers who undermine the career field.

You can't soar like an eagle when you surround yourself with turkeys!

That women was innocent but she is probably crazy, wearing a hoodie in OKC in summer and concealing the shit even if she intended to pay for it.

“This COULD include”

that’s pretty vague. I’ll bet you need more than just that.

He had a laptop charger at best buy and put it in his hoodie. As far as I know (he was a couple classes ahead of me I think) he hadn't attempted to leave the store before loss prevention grabbed him. Pretty sure he was fired the next work day. I think he had gotten the charges dropped, just banned from that store, and that was his saving grace of getting back to the academy.

They've most likely only worked consistently during the junior ranks, so anywhere from 4 to 8 years at most. The rest being desk work. Them NCO gigs tho..

I used to work loss prevention at Best Buy and if that’s true then they fucked it up and I’m surprised they tried to press charges. Best Buy is really strict with the 5 or 6 step process.

Did you ever make any bad stops? Loss prevention is a legal minefield that I wouldnt push too far. The job is not worth a violent confrontation with a non compliant suspect. It's sad that they harass customers for receipts at BB, and customers think they have to show them.

I never had a bad stop because I was super cautious. If I had any doubt about one of the steps I let it go. I’m not going to risk getting sued or having someone try to box me over a fucking CD or phone case.

You act like this is the first time this type of bid has ever come out. It isn't. And they'll be fine.

That whole group minus the 2 or 3 that passed were complete fuckups. I was there during that time. They had 4 or 5 Chevy "we mean business" suburbans rolled up at the academy. They seemed cool in basics, clearly were a bunch of fuckups. Was a Navy guy that used to post here who was part of that class but he and all the others washed. I talked to that class and they were pretty arrogant but that's not really less than what I would expect. Dumbasses

I guess I like that the announcement is only for levels 4-7. So presumably someone is thinking, lets send these prior military to lower levels so those people can gtfo. No?

I agree, many of those places are low staffed and haven’t released anyone through NCEPT in a long time. The FAA seems to radically overestimate the ability of former military controllers. some are true stars but that is rare just like it is for any new hire. The FAA assumes they all will be though, that’s why they probably think it will be a quick fix to staffing at those places.
