That's not nearly what I expected honestly. I'm sure, like with most things, the start-up is the more expensive part. I have plenty of research to do and more than enough time being home as a trainee to do it. Not that I could afford it on AG pay though lol. We wanted to get chickens as we have a friend nearby that has close to 50 of them, but come to find out, our city doesn't allow them.
If there is any advice I could give is they're pretty social animals, at least get two. The perk to them too is similar to donkeys is they're good herd protectors so if you just wanted to keep both chickens and alpaca in the same area they'd both benefit from it. You can find them for sale online at ranches all over the country for $5/600.
