Slate Book Extended Until 2029

I gotta say, it is absolutely exhausting seeing people on here and in positions of power in NATCA argue about "strategy" and what avenues are and aren't available to NATCA to improve our lives. As if everything that we can and cannot do is dictated by the agency, the administration, and the rules they set forth; as if NATCA has no sovereignty in the situation.
.

That isn't a strike. That isn't a work stoppage. That isn't anywhere near an illegal labor action by a federal workforce. That gets results.

Grow a spine, you feckless fucking cowards.
So you're saying if we got an email that was like

"There are record breaking amount of travelers and planes this Thanksgiving and Christmas season and safety is our number one priority, please remember to report fatigue and task saturation to your supervisor."

Instead of
"Even though we weren't told about the rest rules here's why that's a win..."

"Even though covid is still very real and the agreed upon map is red in your county, Florida and Texas are open so these facilities are no longer following that protocol."

"Huge win NOTAMs finally changed the M from Men to Missions"

"Come get drunk in Vegas and be creepy to female members while flexing your union card"

My initial reaction to all of this, like many others here, is to just leave this union. I am really struggling with the decision. Part of me wants to just say fuck it and leave; the other part thinks that’s just what Nick wants, less vocal opposition. It’s hard to tell anyone that wants out to stay when it’s clear their voices are just being ignored.

Nick preaches unity, and to his credit, he has unified us… against him. That’s the one good thing I can take out of that town hall.

I don’t know if I’ll stay, but I know if I do, I will do anything in my power to stop this man from going against the desires of the membership. Maybe if there’s enough of us idiots out there that put our minds together, we can outsmart Nick’s huge brain.
Take over locals and kill collaboration was my initial thoughts.
Do schedule, leave and OT MOU. Make management do all the rest of the work.
Kill collaboration from the bottom up and make national the embarrassment they are when they have to ask why aren’t reps and BUE doing all the work they used to?

That's a plan but would take years to try and oust the collaborators or even get elected by waiting for the sympathizers to retire.

Why do I feel like a fuckin Colonist going up against The British Empire

When there is a lot of stubbed toes making noise it doesn’t take long to get noticed. Just need it to catch fire.
There aren’t that many people getting full pay periods off the boards in comparison to the amount that just got Fucked over and no vote on their contract.
Killing collaboration is the other way we can ever be taken seriously again.
Imagine going to CFT and be like I am interested in collaborating shit when is this training over.

Well, If nothing else, the zoom meetings about the extension are certainly spicy.

I must say, if you have some time to kill, at least show up for the Q and A portion, as the rest you can just read the slides.

I will give Nick credit for doing that, though it ends well before I think everyone gets to say their piece. Then again, it may take all night.

I hopefully have an awakening for all of you that think that way: WE have the power. When it comes down to it, WE are the ones that make this shit work. Planes don't leave the ground unless WE say so. Congress doesn't get to fly home unless WE say so. Cargo doesn't move unless WE say so.

Could you even imagine if we didn't have stooge after stooge after stooge sitting on the throne of this association? If we instead had someone in the vein of a Harold Daggett (Longshoremen), Shawn Fain (UAW), or Sean O'Brien (Teamsters)? How quickly would a TRUE labor leader notify the agency that they are instructing all BUEs to operate strictly by the letter of the .65, use sick leave if they are incapacitated, and to do so until advised otherwise?

We always like to lean on the idea that management's declarations amount to "the beatings will continue until morale improves." Guess what? We're the ones with the stick, motherfucker, they're the ones that should be scared.

They want you working 50+ hours a week? Fuck you, pay me. They want these sequences safe, orderly, AND expeditious? Fuck you, pay me. They want to give out sick leave letters for getting sick, using NyQuil, and taking two days off? Fuck you, pay me.

That isn't a strike. That isn't a work stoppage. That isn't anywhere near an illegal labor action by a federal workforce. That gets results.

This post belongs in the P65 hall of fame as one of the all-time greats. Bravo.

Was today’s zoom meeting as spicy as yesterday’s?

I might do tomorrow’s (at least the Q@A portion) to observe and take a couple swipes at the abomination that we call NCEPT.

Wasn’t on yesterday’s, but yeah spicy. 300ish people on. At one point when they opened the chat, someone put up a ‘poll’ via likes and dislikes and it was a vote of about 75-4 against the extension for those that were on.

People asked Nick to address it, but he doesn’t see the chat and the moderator who I guess is firmly entrenched in his I haven’t been to my facility in multiple years 114 gig, don’t bring it up. Could be wrong on that one though.

I was the first one on the Q&A, and I put that poll up in the chat immediately after Nick tried to brush off the NCE and NNE poll results as “not speaking for the entire membership.”

And of course it was ignored. I’ll try to get on again tomorrow.

I saw that they ignored your request to follow up after he had started answering your question too.

Gotta raise your hand immediately too so you can bring it up later in the Q/A. Or have a buddy do it so they don’t ignore you because of the poll.

I thought you spoke well. I am disappointed in the whole thing, and don’t think he realizes the fallout.
