The woeful unpreparedness of Management

The way I read it, at a up/down if you don’t have local and a radar scope you’re excused?
That’s incorrect. It says, “Up/down: employees not certified on positions referenced for tower OR approach.”
So if you’re on GC or LC, go to work. If you started in the TRACON and have a radar position, go to work.

If you don't have ground your excused. Are there actually any up/downs where you train on radar before certifying on all the tower positions?

Some facilities start ERRs that came from ARTCCs or busy TRACONS downstairs. #ExpectationBias

NYC has directed remote testing sites to close and tests to be allocated only to healthcare workers and those ill enough to require hospitalization--in some cases only if a test result would change their treatment plan. So over the next two weeks, when ZNY and N90 controllers start getting sick en masse, will the FAA's response be "back to work, nothing to see here, no additional positive cases confirmed"?

This was a good move to help towers out. Any 8 and above tower probably has people in this category. My facility has 3. At certain points my last facility would have had 5 and the one before that 4. This brings towers to the level of everyone else as far as non essentials. There isn’t a tower around to my knowledge with a FD only person.

Hopefully they do something for pregnant cases and at risk family members soon! Sounds like NATCA has had an uphill battle non stop with the FAA.

Nobody has been sent at my facility. Everyone is certified on at least ground, and if you include the non-CPCs, we're at almost 150% staffing.

Yes. That’s already their response

I dont agree with the family members thing . too easy for someone to lie and say the grandparent or parent that lived across town or even a state away now "lives with them"

There probably is not anything close to precedence for this, but how long will they keep people on Admin before a layoff? Would they even lay people off who are on Admin?

On a slightly related question, are those who were sent home from OKC on admin?

RIF (Reduction in Force) has to happen with concurrence of the Union to my knowledge and they have to give 3 months notice (off the top of my head, someone correct me). They cannot just "lay off" the work force due to decreased traffic. As far as Academy go, I imagine they will follow the guidance but I am not sure.

What if you have kids or a spouse that are high risk? Too fucking bad I guess.

The pregnant woman in my area was scheduled in the dysim lab today and I'm pretty sure they still have her back there instead of sending her home like they're supposed to...

e: they've supposedly sent her home.

Called my Regional Flight Surgeon, he verified my condition and medication, he is going to send an email to the facility. I do not want to be around when someone tests positive. *Update Excused Absence has been approved.
Nice that yours answered/returned your call. Still waiting on the ASO one to either answer or call back.

who cares? Get them out of the facility. This isn't a time to be scam police.

Nobody — nobody wants to be here. My family isn’t anymore important than anyone else’s family and their family isn’t anymore important than mine. I personally am tired of all this bullshit where everybody wants to pretend that they are the only ones who don’t want to be at work.

It would be nice to get some kind of rotational team schedule going so we can all find a way to limit our exposure.

edit: I don’t blame pregnant women from getting the hell out of here or the trainees. But the CPC’s with the “my brother’s wife’s sister’s roomates’s friend has asthma and I’m bringing food to them...
