Treats people like shit, yet probably gets massively butthurt when his super important opinion isn’t respected

#irony

And the response will play out like this “I don’t really give a shit what people think” followed by some sort of deflection and personal attack.
Really don’t care. Def don’t get butt hurt esp from the internet hahaha. No personal attack. I love my fellow controllers at all levels. Except trainees. They’re dirty.

You’re making just as much and sometimes more than many CPC’s at low level facilities who are still working but it’s about your point of view that you can’t get a class date.
The main gripe is no one is telling us wtf is going on and what the eventual plan is get ya back to work. We want to work. We don’t want to be sitting at home.

also I don’t want to be classified as non essential in the event daddy trump comes a knocking. It makes zero sense to have your union tell your employer that you are non essential.

Does it matter? Should we be treated differently. Do the CPC IT union dues make you more of a union brother or sister?
It does matter. Union or not, some people can’t do this job no matter what their background is. Others have proven they can, and are CPCs. Everyone deserves a fair shake, but all the hobonobbing isn’t a substitute for ability, unless you’re an RPO 😂

nobody is questioning ability to do the job or lack thereof right now. Devs/trainees/whatever are fearing for their jobs. Do you not see that as a problem?

I haven’t seen any developmentals fearing for their jobs. Just you running around screaming “FURLOUGH” in all the threads.

maybe they’re not directly saying it - but any trainee who questions what “the plan” is recognizes one of the possible outcomes is furloughs. They’re afraid to throw the word out there. I’m not.

Furlough wouldnt be end of the world that implies you still have a job waiting for you when the furlough inevitably ends. a RIF would be far worse. NEither are going to happen though!

You don’t see the union telling the employee we are Non essential isn’t very smart for us. We do make up probably 20% of the Union. Maybe more?

They can’t tell you what you they don’t know. You think they had a plan for this? They had no plan going in and they sure as hell don’t have a concrete plan to get out of it. I guarantee the union pushed senior mgmt into this skeleton crews we have now, what Europe has been doing, at the threat of going to the press how it was an international embarrassment how many facilities we had go down with no action taken. Or else senior mgmt wouldn’t have reacted at all. They wanted biz as usual. It’s the lowest traffic basically ever, even after 9/11 it wasn’t this low. Dot just approved like 36 different suspension of services of different cities, by different airlines, even with the cares act, this whole thing is unprecedented and if anyone says they know what’s going to Happen they are lying. In the words of Caitlin Jenner ... “buckle up buckaroos!”

2+ months in, not knowing is not really acceptable. All 50 states are reopening. Even New York is reopening.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Training resuming will be probably facility by facility basis and be based on traffic levels warranting bringing extra people back into the building amidst an ongoing pandemic. My guess is the FAA will say when they can start training but facilities will still be able to do it on their schedule after that point. Because sure, states are starting to open up, but it’s not because there’s all of a sudden been a cure or treatment found. It’s because we’ve reached an acceptable level of risk in society when weighing the risk reward of keeping everything shut down. So as far as our facilities go, does the reward of bringing people back in the building to train on this traffic really outweigh the health risk at this point? I don’t think so, at least not at my facility. I know it sucks, if I were in your shoes I’d be itching to get training too. But gotta have some understanding to the reality of the situation. Most facilities are staffing bare minimums and still have more people in the building than needed. At my facility if you included trainees we would normally have around 15-18 people per shift in my area and multiply that by 7 for the building. Right now we have 4-5 people per shift per area and we have more people/breaks than we know what to do with because the traffic allows us to stay on the mid config all day long. If there was no health pandemic I’d say it is what it is and train on the traffic there is. But that’s not the case. More people in the building equals more risk and no reward at this point. And they can’t give a definitive time table because they don’t know when that traffic count will rise or the virus threat subsides enough or both happen to a point where it’s worth introducing risk back into the building.

And we are just asking for if that’s the plan to be told that that’s the plan. Natca has been so quiet to our branch of the union they haven’t even reached out to find out if anyone has died from covid. I could have died 2 months ago and is still be getting paid like that dude in office space.
It’s your responsibility to call in and report you died from Covid 😜 haha. But nah man I hear your frustrations I just really believe their plan is based on traffic numbers and thus they can’t tell you anything until they see what the numbers look like and how they’re affecting the current staffing. You know, typical FAA reactive type stuff lol

Last I checked it was around 4k in training. Not counting management that's about 25%.

Separate note, if any believes furlough will be a thing theyre retarded. Word I'm getting is training will continue at ATM discretion, traffic levels at the beginning of training will be considered the new norm for training purposes.

The FAA a few months ago was dealing with a self-professed employee shortage. Any concept of cutting people for a short term pandemic would be egg in the face as soon as a year from the furlough. Believe it or not management has a strong survival instinct as well.
