Training manager and natca rep at my Z said A side counts as a position and will be recalled. Funny how every facility interprets it differently.
Some Z’s staff A side, and others don’t, so perhaps that plays into it? It would be difficult to bring dozens of people back, and put them on schedules for a position that was rarely necessary even before the traffic reduction.

We don't use A sides ever. I think we only have 2 or 3 trainees that will be affected. Natca is probably leaning on the side of getting the most people to essential status asap.

Man, if A sides that got an OTS go up to D school before D sides that were denied an OTS are allowed back, we're going to need a lot more booze. It was hard enough when they had the recently seasoned D sides go do R school and leapfrog the folks that were in R school in March.

Why wouldn’t d sides be recalled with this if they haven’t already?

if a sides aren’t recalled than whoever wrote that email did a really bad job.

D sides who started R school in January needed an over the shoulder in May. That wasn't an option. D sides (even partials) were recalled as essential in June, but that unlucky few had already lapsed in currency so were told to wait for a waiver. That didn't happen, so they were told to wait for training resumption. When training resumed, they were told they were ineligible because they needed classroom and sim time. Then the D sides who were allowed back in June finished up and seasoned and went up to R school for classroom and sim time. They were then told that they'd be recalled based on gating metrics and their original level of training, but then they sent out this email.

The only faint glimmer of hope is that Stinger thinks they will be recalled, despite that not being what the email said. The email is crap enough that we can still hope, though.

This says that the over the shoulder that expired has been extended to facilitate this recall

That quote references the assumption that they had a June over the shoulder. I'm pretty sure that it's just saying that folks that haven't been on position for 31-120 days are exempted from the new ojt requirements until the end of the month.

Idk man. If they had a June over the shoulder and d side ratings then they could already come back right now without this email

But they'd be subject to the new classroom/ojt requirements for 31-120 days off position that changed at the end of October. All that line said was that they were giving folks witha June OTS a pass if they get in by 30 Nov

I have no idea where you get that. It says if you had a June OTS and you’re between 31 and 119 days, your OJT is waived until the end of November.
Except, anyone that actually had an OTS in June and hasn’t returned since is far beyond 120 days. It’s been 143 days since June ended.

But it also says your EA from March 23 is terminated. It really needs to be clarified

Just to further speculate, I wonder if all this had anything to do with the potential for a shutdown in a few weeks. Seems odd they want everyone back just over a week before the CR is set to expire. Maybe the agency said anyone’s who’s on EA going into a shutdown will just be laid off or something.

Might be a stupid question. So if there is a RIF would that mean everybody at the academy would be laid off or would it be a percentage?

Let’s see what the judges say
