Under socialism the government would own the real estate, it owns the farm, it owns the pharma companies etc. Our capitalistic economy has many justified "social" safety nets and regulations. I don't argue against some of them. They are necessary, as a pure capitalistic system does not work. American is neither democratic (It's a republic) nor socialist.

Knowing people in the ag industry, yes. The gov pays farmers to NOT produce anything almost as often as they subsidize production in fact. The American ag industry wouldn't be the international powerhouse it is without those evil tax dollars propping it up, paying ecologists to do environmental studies, and protecting land erosion with CRP programs.

Middle America loves to go on about muh red menace, while ignoring that fact. The cognitive dissonance is wild, particularly when you drive thru these areas and see the signs and bumper stickers on these people's properties and cars.

What do you need to tell the pilot for it to be a legal clearance for the approach. My understanding is since he is established on the holding procedure on the approach all you have to say is “cleared ILS rwy xx approach “
