ATSA Compilation

From what I’m reading, when we are ‘referred’ not ‘not Referred’, it won’t tell us if we are WQ or Q, correct??

As far as I know, they didn't refer anyone in the "Q" band during the 2016 bid so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same this time.

They're now labeled as Band 1 (80-100) and Band 2 (70-79). FAA HR is instructed not to tell you which band you fall under.
Although terrible for the test takers, it's par for the course for the 'new' FAA in it's attempt to prevent future litigation.

EX. By law the Military/CTI group and the OTS group can only vary by 10% points. At a maximum it's 45% CTI/Military to 55% OTS or vice versa. Numbers used are for simplicity sake, imagine this scenario...

Pool X - 65 Band 1, 35 Band 2
Pool Y - 35 Band 1, 65 Band 2

Legally Pool Y needs to have 45%, so they hire 35 Band 1 and 10 Band 2. Pool X can only have 55% so they randomly select 55 Band 1 applicants. Now imagine those 10 remaining Band 1 applicants from Pool X finding out that the other pool had to hire 10 Band 2 applicants.

And there's far more OTS applicants than Mil/CTI I imagine? So in reality this will usually play out as out of 100 hires, 55 will be band 1 OTS and 45 will be band 1/2 Mil/CTI?

It's all dependent on the number of Band 1 applicants. Last panel, the Band 1 applicants were exhausted from each Pool and it ended up being 50.5% Pool 1 and 49.5% Pool 2. Veterans with preference will have their +5 or +10 point preference added to their AT-SA score, which, you can assume, would result in a higher percentage of Band 1 applicants in Pool 1, but each panel will be unique in that regard.

Do you know if they are still sending out TOL's for the prior experience ATCEXP-52850 bid? Thank you

I took the ATSA on October 20th. When are the last tests and how long after that do we find out if we’ve been referred or not?
I’ve logged into my USAJOBS.GOV profile and in the “application” section there is nothing. It’s all zeros...

So maybe by New Years we’ll know if we’ve been referred or not?
I’m just a little concerned that there isn’t any saved applications on my USAJOBS for the status to change to referred or not referred... anyone else see NOTHING regarding the FAA when they login to their profile on USAJOBS?

I would contact HR or USAJobs directly to see, clearly they have your application or you wouldn't have been invited to take the ATSA. Probably just an error on USAJobs.

Oh yeah, didn't mean it's meaningless. Totally agree with you. Just meant that the radar game took priority over the math 100% of the time for me. Once I knew no collisions were happening I'd answer as many math questions as I could. I brushed up on mental math in the month or two leading up to it and was really quick at accurately estimating answers.

My logic was to keep in line with the duty priority. Radar game = separating aircraft, math = additional services. Worked out for me. I think most people I took it with got caught up in trying to balance both equally and suffered for it.
I passed the ATSA as well and I agree with you. I treated separation as top priority and did the math as I could (guesstimating).

Does everyone who applies get scheduled to take the AT-SA? I received an email PSI online to schedule an exam date but I am concerned about waisting my time, I live in the UAE for work and will need to travel to the U.S. to take the exam. The thing I am worried about is that im 35 years old, i'm a 10 point preferance veteran and applied to an opening for developmental Air Traffic Control Specialist. veteran status and Aviation experience put me in pool 1 which has no BA requirement the job posting was only open sep 5- sep 11 2017 the job is for Alaska specifically and says all training will be in Alaska , so will I be waisting my time taking the AT-SA (it will cost a 1k flight also) or do I stand a chance at getting picked up, the announcement does not mention an age limit? the announcement number is AAL-ATO-17-ALLSRCE-53934

I am not sure if anyone still replies to this thread, but I figured I would give it a shot. I take the AT SA on the 25th of this month and i have been using the testprep. Im wondering, do they average the score of all the sections together for one number? Are any sections a bigger deal than the others? Im feeling very nervous and I have read this whole thread at least 3 times.

Nobody knows how the test is scored. Nobody actually knows what their score is either.

Quick question about the 2 planes and eye test. On the prep it is timed and you get about 3 seconds to answer the problem. Is this the same on the ATSA as well? Just wondering so I can get my speed up with it.
