Hardship

New user here. Hello all. I thought I’d just ask for input on my situation than to make a new post...

I’m looking to hardship out for “estranged child”. Specifically, I got divorced late 2014 and ex got custody. They moved to Europe in early 2015. I got hired by the FAA after that in 2015. My ex and son are moving back to the states and this will be the first opportunity I have at being close to my son. I’ve ran it by my fac rep and he said it sounds valid.

For those of you with experience, what do you think about my case? Also are there certain things I should be sure to mention or not include to help my chances. Thanks.
File it. Be prepared for it to be disapproved because the “situation existed prior to you accepting the position.” Hope that it gets approved because there is no standard or consistency from one hardship request to the next.

Soapbox: were I king for a day, the hardship program would be revamped for better integration with the ERR process and standards for approval/denial.

How would you change it/ integrate it with the ERR process?

If I go the hardship route I don't plan on using allergies as the reason. Just wanted to shine some light on some of the BS out there.
I do have a qualifying reason I could use... anyways good talk yall.
You didn’t answer me. Why is allergies not a valid reason? I’ll give you an example. Someone with severe allergies that doesn’t respond to any treatment options that are not med DQ, and starts causing chronic sinus infections and polyps to grow in the sinuses, leaving moving or surgery as the only options. Are allergies still not valid?

You guys for real?
We've gotten so comfortable with waste, fraud and abuse that we're literally advocating for it on a public forum now. It's not there to advance your career. And it's not victimless. It's a program negotiated for in the contract. This is the membership degrading its own leverage.
The least you could do is carry your own accountability and keep your mouth shut. Otherwise the agency could shut the door and poor @odotsal is never gonna see his kid.
Cuz @Stler and crew didn't like their duty station.

Hardships get abused all the time. I've never abused them, and people abusing them has caused damage to my career. Absolutely I'm going to discuss it on a public forum bro. Hell, reading your post I couldn't tell if you were talking about hardships or NCEPT until I read the part about it being in the contract...

This stuff builds resentment within the membership and increases scrutiny on the membership

Sure, your Web MD description sounds valid...its getting abused, and hell i don't blame them. Bottom line is the current ERR policy needs fixed. Staffing has not improved at my facility. Hardships have quadrupled.

Ok dude. Good luck. Pot calling the kettle black for you to judge someone else’s hardship merits and then knowingly abuse the system.
