10% SSR Increase Update

GS 11 Step 10 now making as much as a level 7 CPC, GS 12 step 10 now a level 9 CPC equivalent, of course FAA will outpace DOD with NATCA raises, but not a bad time to jump ship if your stuck in a shitty location and you have a DOD facility near your dream location.
It takes a while to step up to 10, but I transferred from a level 5 back in September which put me at GS11 Step 5. Ended up being a huge pay raise with this SSR.

11 step 4 takes 3 years to hit if you start at step 1. And that’s CPC pay for a level 7. Especially considering the time spent in training for the FAA I would consider a GS 11 to be level 7 pay, not just 11 step 10.

This is great for the DoD they deserve the bump no doubt. Mick said in his region there were a number of CPCs at low levels that transferred to the DoD. I hope this puts pressure on getting CPCs getting a raise, but Im definitely not holding my breath.

While this 10% helps the DoD, I don't think it's really competitive with the FAAs bands. If your DoD GS11 and in a high locality your basically making the same as a DoD GS11 in a low locality. In the FAA if your a level 7 in a low locality vs a level 7 in a high locality, the difference is legitimately 15-20% in pay. Add in CIP (2-10%) and the gap in even bigger. When you calculate your high 3 this matters.

And how does SSR vs locality figure into your high 3 for retirement?

Both locality and SSR count in the high 3. You get whichever is the higher of the two, and it gets figured into your high 3.
