NDJH - The Yacht - A Three-Region Convention Dinner

It’s not working for a lot of people. And it’s been that way for literal years. We’re just miles apart on what defines change.
If it's been that way for years why should we vote for Nick when it's been him and his other 5 or 6 rvps that have been essentially running the union since they were always the majority vote on everything? Seems like if the union isn't working for most people then changing the status quo and not voting for Nick or his people would be the way to go.

I'm not a fan of rich at all and watching Rich speak in front of Congress makes me completely embarrassed to be apart of this union. He speaks without any sort of command and will to fight for his BUEs. So I voted for JD and Redmond. But now that it's down to Rich and Nick idk that I can vote for Nick. He's been politically out maneuvered by rich on simple shit. The dude brought a motion to extend the contract, even if that's what Rich wants too, and then backpedaled it. At least Rich was aware enough to know that the membership would hate extending again, but Nick couldn't grasp that.

Idk with our current options I would take Rich and hope we could put someone else in front of Congress to speak on our behalf cause Rich obviously can't advocate for us properly, when it's in front of Congress at least 🤷‍♂️

TLDR: all options suck. Nick is dumber than Rich and Rich is too much of an indoor cat in front of Congress

This is the most alarming indictment in my opinion. Our union is in such embarrassing disarray that everyone’s passing around status quo like a hot potato. But again I still can’t understand how this narrative made it passed some many people’s bullshit meters.

Honestly I don’t think Rich is bad at speaking in front of congress. I just think he’s in a bubble disconnected from the plight of his BUEs. Hence the “robust transfer system” gaff.

This was Mick’s master plan for sure. The ethical problem I have with it is both Rich and Mick know negotiating under Trumps EOs will generate a net negative for their people and they’ve committed us to it anyway in order to win an election. Anyone who thinks the country’s election is anything besides a coin toss is drunk on bias.
At least Rich was aware enough to know that the membership would hate extending again, but Nick couldn't grasp that.
Neither one of them committed to renegotiate until after this incident.

If you’re concerned about addressing congress voting for JD makes the least sense.

Yet somehow I still got half the votes of your preferred candidate. Strange.

I’ll nominate you next round, I think you’d be perfect if you’re willing to leave one of the most desirable facilities in the NAS. You obviously have all the answers, and seem very in tune with the workforce.

You going to say that Marinetti and Rich are good buddies?
No one said that

Never been to convention?
This is a good point

I’m a controller I shouldn’t be speaking in front of congress. Same as you.
Idk why people are criticizing Rich or Nick or anyone for not plugging in. The union president is a different job.
The voter turnout/engagement is a huge problem.
But why did no one vote? Is it because they’re so disenfranchised they’ve given up? I think so.
Or is it because many are so fat dumb and happy they don’t bother voicing complaints on the internet and take things for granted? This is actually a possibility.
Only 1200 people out of 14300 were so mad they voted for a protest candidate.

Edit: per mikes post

You’re at the most desirable facility in the NAS!? That sounds awesome, how’d you NCEPT there? Surely you don’t have any family members that got to NCEPT out that way too do you?

The voter turnout/engagement is a huge problem.

Only 1200 people out of 20000 were so mad they voted for a protest candidate.

So 20% of the actual people that voted, right? Or half of what your preferred candidate got right?

Quote whatever numbers you want. A protest vote that was a vote for change. A vote to wake up the other canidates in the race.

I got half your preferred candidate’s votes, and they spent thousands and thousands more, badgered people for endorsements, made a ton of videos, visited 200 facilities and announced on the “yacht” at a 3 region dinner.

You are part of the problem, yet you don’t realize it.

At least when I was running I knew exactly who I was, a controller who didn’t have the experience of the other two did, but set out to make a statement and most likely create a runoff. I even guessed the number of votes I would get within about 1-2%.

You seem to lack self awareness. I hope this doesn’t apply to your actual controlling ability.

First off, your math is way off, we only have around 14,300 members, so you exaggerate the numbers over 25 percent. Secondly, we have always had about 40-50 percent membership turnout in an election cycle, this turnout was nothing new, though it was a little on the lower side of the history average. If you are happy, fat and dumb I would say you are in the minority, not the majority and that is why this election cycle is so contentious because our Union has swayed over the past decade of being a Labor Organization that represents the work force and became one that has numerous people dipping their toes out of the operation and don't want to come back. In the end I guess we will find out in October which direction our Union is going to go.

You were the one who when they said if you don’t like it run, then they said no no not like that!

I don’t think it has anything to do with his controlling experience though. He was able to NCEPT to his facility based on his merits

First of all why do we have to mail the ballots? Is the union not secure enough that people could vote locally? Or do they want to make it so random members don’t want to vote? Is this typical of other unions? Alaska airlines flight attendants just voted and it said something like 96% voted against a contract.

We did electronic balloting in the past, however the NEC made the decision to go back to mail to protect the secrecy of the ballots as I believe all the electronic balloting would cause them to jump through some hoops and was expensive.

That said, the secrecy of ballots went right out the window when people started posting pictures of who they vote for on social media.

There is also a difference between a Union election and voting on a CBA and the requirements.

Edited thank you.

It’s too low. And it’s because the membership has given up.

I literally said I don’t think that’s the case. I said it’s a possible explanation.
Still baffled at your ire towards collaboration btw.

Because it’s been masked by closed door NEB sessions
This is true. They’ve fairly successfully hid this from the membership for years. Turns out that was a huge mistake.

You’re at the most desirable facility in the NAS!? That sounds awesome, how’d you NCEPT there? Surely you don’t have any family members that got to NCEPT out that way too do you?
It is awesome. Got lucky. NCEPT is wayyy too dependent on luck. If we don’t get movement solved we’re just burning down the younger generation. People need need need opportunity to move. Which is why I’ve dedicated tons and tons of time and energy to helping others navigate the process as well. And holding your pimps accountable to the people we serve. All you’ve ever done is sabotaged your own team.
Beat it Lenny you stink.

I just wanted change.
Quote whatever numbers you want. A protest vote that was a vote for change. A vote to wake up the other canidates in the race.
It was and it worked. I’m glad it worked. Leadership straight up didn’t know how mad people were until this passed year. And trust me they were made aware long before that.
I got half your preferred candidate’s votes, and they spent thousands and thousands more, badgered people for endorsements, made a ton of videos, visited 200 facilities and announced on the “yacht” at a 3 region dinner.
Yes they tried really hard. It’s amazing you think that’s an insult.
You are part of the problem, yet you don’t realize it.
This is untrue
At least when I was running I knew exactly who I was, a controller who didn’t have the experience of the other two did, but set out to make a statement and most likely create a runoff. I even guessed the number of votes I would get within about 1-2%.
The runoff was a much needed slap in the face. But I don’t know what you’re so proud of, those 1200 would’ve voted for my fridge and I don’t blame them. And in the end you just Ralph Nader’d the incumbency back into power.
You seem to lack self awareness. I hope this doesn’t apply to your actual controlling ability.
Also false

You didn’t NCEPT? How’d you get where you are? Did anyone else you know use the same process? I mean it’s hard for them when others are able to use other means to get what they want and jump them.

I’m glad Rich proposed in the next contract at least 1 person must be released from a facility each year. That’s a whole lot of new movement every year

But I don’t know what you’re so proud of, those 1200 would’ve voted for my fridge and I don’t blame them.

Too bad your fridge didn’t run. So if no one else stepped up, they wouldn’t have known the membership was upset?

You have a lot of passion.

What would you like me to nominate you for in 2024? I’m thinking President if your fridge wont run again.
