I think what most people are trying to explain to you is that the June raise is exclusive to the FAA.I'm all for a pay raise. I just pointed out that what is being said isn't 100% true. You can't negotiate on what you think we get paid. You can't negotiate and ignore half the raises. The FAA isn't going to. That's not how the real world works.
Sorry all of you getting upset about the facts.
When Biden, or those who make decisions for him, sat down to determine what the raise in January should be, they more than likely didn’t say “well we could give ALL federal employees a big raise, but those fuckers in the FAA have a 1.6% every June. Guess we’ll just need to make it 2%”
So by that logic, ANY federal employee that made $100k in 2019, is effectively behind financially relative to inflation. However, as an agency, our 1.6% in June has kept us on track with it.
BUT, the June longevity raise was never designed or negotiated to be a tool to offset inflation. It is meant to move the employee up in the pay band, rewarding them for their service to the FAA.
Differentials are also not taken into consideration when determining an employee’s salary. My SF-50 doesn’t have my salary listed with an asterisk saying *plus differentials*. The differentials are a tool to provide the appropriate incentives for working shit schedules, holidays, Sundays, or to partake in additional duties like training.
In a much simpler Kamala friendly version “sometimes when the number go up, it doesn’t always mean the number feels the same as it was in the past. So we are being burdened by what has been and what is to come”
