Would you be willing to participate in an organized, informative picket (not strike) to advocate for increasing pay and protection of benefits?

I would absolutely do this outside the terminal.
Not a terrible idea. I’m old enough to remember the patco strike in 1981. Poorly organized, controllers walking around randomly, looked like a bunch of slobs. Nearly zero public support. They were quickly fired and replaced. Just needs to be well planned

Well a picket isn't a strike or a work action, and is definitely something that NATCA should set up in major metro areas where you could have a bunch of controllers show up at the big airport terminals. As long as you don't bang in sick to go and there were proper permits there would be nothing wrong. Hell the pilots are out there picketing whenever they are working on a new contract and they make 3x as much as us and can garner public support.

Yeah one of our SAIC guys has told me stories bolstering the same things. I feel like nowadays with national email capability to all members, NATCA has a lot more strategic leverage than in ‘81. With the gravity of recent events well engrained in public perception, picketing outside every core 30 and semi-major airport across the country (and most importantly off duty) would send a pretty strong message.

Here is the truth.
A pay raise is very, very (congressional level tough)
I will concede now is the time to mention it, maybe possibly.
Whats easy is some quality of life changes-

A study/elms day. We are a technical career. Every time you do a read and initial you are saying you KNOW and UNDERSTAND the information. Maybe you quickly glanced at the entire 7110 or numerous loa/sop documents...but how many construction/fbo/etc also happen.

Childcare/subsidies? Why is this only at centers and such a limited program. At my tower there's literally very sparse (and therefore expensive)

Why are we the only feds that have to fight to nap on overnight shifts? This was big a few years ago...anyone have those nap pods at your facility?

Somehow the public has been gaslit into thinking I was make 160k and getting a 30% raise this year...i can't say for sure this was planned but a 5 dollar an hour raise during initial training is way different.
