NATCA can 😀I’m underpaid. I can’t afford Picket supplies
Not a terrible idea. I’m old enough to remember the patco strike in 1981. Poorly organized, controllers walking around randomly, looked like a bunch of slobs. Nearly zero public support. They were quickly fired and replaced. Just needs to be well plannedI would absolutely do this outside the terminal.
Well a picket isn't a strike or a work action, and is definitely something that NATCA should set up in major metro areas where you could have a bunch of controllers show up at the big airport terminals. As long as you don't bang in sick to go and there were proper permits there would be nothing wrong. Hell the pilots are out there picketing whenever they are working on a new contract and they make 3x as much as us and can garner public support. Not a terrible idea. Yeah one of our SAIC guys has told me stories bolstering the same things. I feel like nowadays with national email capability to all members, NATCA has a lot more strategic leverage than in ‘81. With the gravity of recent events well engrained in public perception, picketing outside every core 30 and semi-major airport across the country (and most importantly off duty) would send a pretty strong message. Not a terrible idea.
