2026 BWS

Yea I think some of your options are the only solutions. Which isn’t better than the original shift most likely. The shifts need covered one way or another. And straight 8s with no flex probably are worse. Just my opinion.

Depends how the mou reads and the core and ancillary shifts are. It’s not an easy thing to blanket give answers for
At mine a lot of people who did double mid split 4 10 aren’t going to bid them again. They went super senior last year. This year they may go all the way to the bottom. A few people have mentioned they don’t think they could physically work double mids for a whole year so they’re not sure what they will do.

You guys don't normally have a 1600 shift?
It's not required. Turns out admin people are really lazy and would rather turn the pay period exactly at midnight than have to worry about the hours adding up.

I actually find it hilarious. All this overtime and inefficient scheduling once a pay period literally caused by a pay change that happened like 20 years ago. Now no one knows why we do it and you can just get rid of it.

You literally just have to say you can’t flex 😂

I guess if your facility had other coverage till 12 this could work. I really don’t had stand why NATCA caved on the 12 hour rule without getting anything
Because they knew a ton of facilities would have ended up on the reverse rattler before they went to straight shifts.

She was always cool with me but jeez she’s really bouncing up that chain. Seems every year she’s at a new, higher position.

So far, she has called the desk to demand a trainee be given a check ride even though he had no recs and him and the sup said he wasn’t ready. We were having radio issues one day and she ordered the sup to monitor every position because she thought we were lying, nevermind tech ops had just shown her the data showing what the issue was. Another time when the radar was acting funky and we were holding she came into the room yelling that we need to come out of the hold, and when we said we wouldn’t until the damned radar is fixed she went off on a tantrum screaming at the controller, ordering tmu to take them out of the hold, yelling at the sup “don’t let him hold us hostage!”

How are people so dangerously incompetent allowed to remain in these critically important positions. Reminds me of what the Germans said about the British in ww1, the lions led by the lambs.

Or in this case, some of the best controllers led by people who don’t know what a pirep is.

Oh the only thing these people know is what a pirep is.

They don’t know what a useful or good pirep is, they think light chop is critical to the NAS. They believe the quantity of them is all that matters.

Same with training. They see 4 hours a day of light not difficult is better than 1.5 of busy traffic bc 4 is more than 1.5

Pireps of good conditions are absolutely useful.
