Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Got this earlier today

“I show that you your application was reviewed under FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792. The next step in the process is for AT-SA test notices to go out. At this time, I do not know when the notices will go but anticipate it will be sometime within the next 45 days. I encourage you to monitor your email, including your spam folder.”

I should’ve just said I’m at 105 days until separation. Ima go in and change it to hat I do apply for the VRA.
You can still change it on your profile. Edit it if you can. You qualify.

Try to get hired first... They only see if you can read the letters, they will not be giving you a full eye exam.
Don’t do LASIK unless you’re instructed to or you’ll need a waiver that’ll take forever. It is a full eye exam btw.

Medical/Vision question

The OPM site says that a vision prescription of greater than plus/minus 5.50 spherical diopters is disqualifying.
One of my eyes has a script of -6.25 spherical (the other is only -4.50).

What has people's experience been with the medical exam? Do they do a full exam and determine prescription or do they just test corrected vision? Am I totally screwed if just one eye is out of the limit? Should I get LASIK before I do the medical?
Full eye exam but they did not ask for my prescription. They test your uncorrected and corrected vision.

That's not true at all. It is not a full eye exam. You look in a little machine and read the letters, depth perception check, and color vision test. There is no opthalmologist involved

That is a full eye exam. I just did it. The prescription he was discussing from the original post was given to me during my medical appointment. It’s not just an eye chart on a wall is my point.

You can request the chart on the wall.

Does anyone know if they use the isihara color plates for the color vision test? If so, is there an alternate test that you can take afterwards? I know there a lot of men like me that have red/green color deficiency and can't pass the isihara plates but are by no means color blind.

Yes they use the plate test. You will then fail the medical and be put into an additional testing category. There is another test let me see if I can find the info in it. Unfortunately it will be a separate appointment some time after the original

Thanks! Sounds like the secondary test is the ATCOV

Apologies if this has been answered before. I did search this thread, somewhat.

1.) Prior CPC applicant to this OTS bid. Do I have to go through AT basics at the Academy?
2.) Do all OTS applicants go through the tower track? If not, when do you know if you'll be going through RTF or En Route?
3.) Being an OTS bid, are the facilities offered at the end of the academy generally lower level facilities?
