Facility Downgrades / Upgrades

Simply adding airspace and flights doesn't mean you'll stay or increase your facility level. It is all about the CI number and adding slow airspace and a lot of it can actually cause your CI to go down significantly.

Putting it that way it makes sense.

I, for one, am happy with these downgrades. The FAA is finally following federal policy that has been around since the early 90s. Ill stay optimistic and hope their staffing numbers have now gone down so people can now get out and move up...so I can see what a two day weekend is!

We went from a 7 to a 6 and our staffing number didn't change

Was looking at a recent list of facilities offered to a new hire. The list showed BHM as an ATC-7, meaning it was recently downgraded. Anyone have a current list of either recent changes to ATC levels (up and/or down) or all facility levels?

Thanks!

Could simply be an error. NCEPT still shows it as an 8. The last facility upgrade/downgrade list I could find was posted on 9/22/16 which MJ shared.

I haven't seen changes advertised anywhere. It just shows up in documents subsequent to the change in grade.

Was this an academy grad new-hire or a experienced hire?

also went from 7 to 6 with no staffing number change

Zab a few years back. Zhu has been in litigation for years to get upgraded.

Heard they are revisitng the traffic complexity formula to address the mass downgrades. Apparently, with airline consolidation, traffic ops are down but passenger count is up. Truth?

No idea, but the Count Index already decreased a few years ago. So if the CI used to be from 230-315 for a level 9, it's now 210-295. (made up numbers)
