Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Just received my EODS emails and my AT Basics Bypass forms. I just wanted to poll the group here a little before making the decision to bypass or not.

I've heard mixed opinions from coworkers at the base who have gone to the FAA about bypassing the basics block at the academy. It doesn't hurt to have a refresher, especially since it's been almost 5 years since tech school. But looking over the coursework for basics, it is just that... basic.

Any wisdom from those who have already gone this route before?

I like to make decisions by the Minimal Regret Theory, decide which decision could have the worse consequences and pick the other option.
For instance, is it worse to sit through Basics when you know most, if not all, of it or to skip it and find out you should've taken it?

I just got some extra forms to fill out from the person reviewing my medical exam which I did on Monday. I mentioned i take zyrtec for seasonal allergies and I guess I need my doctor to fill out a form regarding my allergies.

Sunshine's advice is good. Prior military who think they know... well...
It's only a couple weeks and you will learn things. It may not make or break you, but it will help in any case. If there's not a strong case to not go, I'd typically say to go.

Those with knowledge: when you first log into EODS, is it just the three forms that need to be electronically signed and approved?
Seemed like it was too quick of a process..lol

I'm not sure if y'all have the numbers from this bid yet but it looks like:
6,825 Applied
4,968 Referred
3,113 Took ATSA
2,384 Passed
888 Well Qualified
466 Selected (this was before the last TOL wave)

I wonder if there's a secret way to find out if you're well qualified or not...
I already know the answer but its nice to dream.

Yeah they want every little thing. I had bronchitis five years ago and they wanted me to have my doctor fill out a form clearing me of it. Five years later. They wanna be REAL thorough, just in case.

How do you clear someone of allergies that may not be present every year? I disclosed that I used ibuprofen and Zyrtec as over the counter drugs at sometime in my past, but I also said that I do not have problems with allergies every year. Like currently; most of my family is having a rough time already with the pollen and I’m not affected at all, but next year I may have a runny nose or something. Seems pretty out there. It’s gonna suck for me if they require my doc to sign off on more stuff since getting seen by the VA is a miracle in itself.

Not to toot my own horn here, but the way I see it if those numbers are correct and you received a TOL I thinks its safe to say you were well qualified.
Glad we both got one, brother!

In other news, sheesh HR is on top of things right now. Got my TOL son Monday, received the EODS email this morning, and had my CIL this afternoon. Props to them

So the drug test is scheduled separately from the medical? I only scheduled my medical thinking it was part of it. Does the medical place typically do the drug tests..or do you go somewhere else depending on your location?
