Security Clearance Information

I completed the SF-85P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions, last summer for a Terminal position off the December 2015 experienced controller announcement.
Yeah that's how they used to do it. They changed how they do things and I think the change was everyone does 86 now. If you ever go to a center or somewhere that requires a higher clearance you'll have to do the 86.

I saw someone mention about, "Add optional comment", in regards to the Financial Record section. I too had a rough patch in terms of debt and delinquencies that I've been working on to rectify.

Is fixing and attempting to correct Financial issues worth it? Also, any idea if they do have a section regarding, "add optional comments"?

Yes every single section has an additional comment section, as do individual questions that ask for an explanation.

So what I've been reading it sounds like there is an in person interview. Does that still happen or is that what the "add optional comments" button is for now?

Yep they still do the interviews, even if you fill in the explanation box. More than likely of you have to "explain why something happened" you can expect an interview.

I'm a bit stumped, and Clouds, maybe you can help since you had to do paperwork on this type of thing. Is there any advice on how I could complete section 11 if there was an entire year where I was moving about due to military training? I was in barracks the whole time and I don't know if I'm gonna be able to remember which barracks I stayed in, let alone find the street addresses of the buildings. I had no FPO as I kept changing training units whenever I would go to a new base. I've got a TOL for En Route and I know I'm going to need to re-do my Secret clearance and I don't want some weird info I write to be the reason I don't get a new clearance and, therefore, get my offer revoked.

If I remember correctly, for the ship and overseas addresses, I had to look through old Amazon orders to find the address for whatever given year it was and fill the form out properly that way.

As for you and boot camp, dude just put whatever you can. And put it was accurately as you can. Be consistent with your answers and your responses.

Dunno if this will help you or not but... I actually found the street addresses for some of my old training squadrons on Google maps of all places. Also, try the unit CQ/HQ if that's available and they should have the physical address. Most of the training squadrons I came across had an enlisted person manning the phones of the CQ/HQ 24/7.

Regarding the credit, how would a federal student loan on deferment affect this? (and a few "late payments" where I couldn't get the account switched over to deferment in time)

I have a question, what kind of documentation do they require for naturalized citizenship? Is it a a certified copy of the actual citizenship certificate?

Document it and explain. Its always better to share too much information and explain it than not enough and have them come calling you about it. There are people who have a lot worse on their credit that have clearances.

passport, Citizenship Certificate, Naturalization Certificate, or Alien Registration Number

Don't know what that means. I'm sure the official document is what they want.
For a previous job I applied to, in order to prove my citizenship I had to make a copy of the certificate. After that,I took the copy to the US Department of Citizenship and Immigration to get a stamped, letterhead cover page that indicated the copy was authentic and valid. Thanks in advance for the prompt responses MJ!

Ok. I can't answer because I have no idea and I don't want to tell you the wrong thing. Check the PDF link in the first post. On one of the first couple pages it talks about citizenship documents. Maybe it'll have the info you need.

Just wondering... I have a expunged weed arrest (and violation) from like 6 years ago. I of course will be reporting it along with the isolated usage. Does anyone know if this will give me any problems? I of course have learned my lesson and would never be that foolish again.

Impossible to say for certain. Length of time might be good, but they might want some sort of proof of non use since then. Sorry I can't give you a better answer

Hmm well thanks for the help. How would they want me to prove it? I don't know how I could possibly do that besides them just taking me at my word.
