Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

What sucks though is that I think some questions were a little too vague. Like "I sometimes tease animals" can be taken as playfully or as antagonistically. I put no just to be safe but it seems like some people who got tier 2'd said yes from what I've seen. But I can't imagine that being the only question to screw people over. Just a guess?
I put no, and got tier 2

A lot of them seemed pretty vague. I wonder what could possibly have flagged so many people unless you answered yes to hearing voices and being possessed by evil spirits ? I wish they'd show results

I put no and no and no and no. Well I fee like I answered a lot of answer false, so maybe that flagged me. I’m not really a let’s go camping type of person either so being that it’s a test created in Minnesota and there isn’t anything to do in Minnesota, it probably hated that I put that I didn’t like camping.

I answered as honestly as possible. Like yea, I am into some things sexually that might be considered outside the norm, but I’m not celebrating international women’s day a la Deadpool or anything like that. Do I occasionally get really mad and lose my temper? Who doesn’t. Do I often think about hurting people or have violent thoughts, I probably should have said no, but I was infantry for a long time with several deployments, and I still carry a gun for work everyday, so I don’t think that is abnormal for me as an individual. I could see how they might have some questions I guess.

I knew it. You’re a furry aren’t you...

You guys are WAY overthinking this. It's simply a personality test that most people pass. If you fail, it really isn't that big of a deal. Will you be delayed? Yes. Will your not be hired? Not likely.

If you're stopping to analyze every question that you are not doing it correctly. It should literally take you less than ten seconds per question. Go with your gut instinct. Don't try to answer perfectly, don't try and answer as though it's a job interview. Just answer with whatever comes to mind first.

See, that’s what the voices in my head said as well and they’re right like 60% of the time. Thanks!

What else have we got to for the next 3-18 months ??

Joking aside, I didn’t think twice about the test until so many of our fellow comrades got the news that they were tier 2’d this week. Now I’m freaking The hell out and trying to remember how I answered every question. If I wasn’t crazy before, this hiring process is getting me there.
They say “we highly recommend you wait to give a formal notice at your current place of employment” but then they send a formal letter to your place of employment all but telling them you’re on your way out. Then the process potentially can be delayed because you score too highly on a test created by a guy who died 40 years ago. The whole hiring process seems screwed up, but what do I know..
Rant over

Does anyone know if you're able to switch between enroute and terminal or vice-versa if you're already certified?

Yeah, happens all the time. You have to ERR. Your facility has to be able to release you and the facility you are trying to go to has to be eligible to select you. See thIs thread. NCEPT.

Yeah. You put in a request and it takes about 30 min then you can download a pdf. Fairly simple. For the va letter I called the va and they faxed it to me to speed up the process. They will only fax it or mail it
Nice, I just sent them mine. Hopefully, they will accept it. Luckily I still had a copy of my VA letter. I already faxed the sf-180 just in case they reject the milconnect docs.

Those of you that are currently employed and had to break the news to your employer, did they require you give an end date? If so, what did you tell them?
I’m in sales and my boss required me give him an end date so that he could start looking for my replacement. I explained that it’s pretty up in the air, but understandably, they aren’t exactly going to accommodate me holding my notice over their heads for weeks or even months ongoing before hiring my replacement
I told my boss about pursuing ATC as soon as I scheduled the ATSA. I was full time then and just started as a part-time weather observer here at KOKC, so I was already in over my head with working all the time. I explained to him that the job I was in wasn't going to help me accomplish my long-time goals, and he agreed to let me go part-time until I got a class date. I've kept him in the loop of the entire process and he's been nothing but supportive the whole time.

It definitely helps to have a good relationship with your colleagues at your current job, as well as a good work ethic while you juggle multiple things going on in life. If you show up to work with a positive attitude and do good work each day (keeping current work priorities #1, leaving ATC stuff for when you get home), I would imagine it'd be easier to convince your boss that you're still worth keeping around for the time being. Though we have no idea when an FOL will show up, at least it's not like you're going to surprise them with a 2 week notice, leaving them to scramble to figure out how to fill your spot. They have a chance to keep someone who is fully trained for the job while having an opportunity to find someone to replace you. It's a win win in my opinion. Just keep a level head and explain that the situation isn't as easy as "I'll leave on this exact date".

Just for clarification, I’ll be moving next month to a new place. I’m assuming I have to give HR the new address right?
