Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Quick question, going to get fingerprints done in the AM at my local PD station, has anyone simply printed off the SF87 cards they send you and had that work fine? When I called the PD station, they said they only have the FD-258 cards. I don’t suppose anyone’s ever submitted the FD-258 and they’ve accepted those?

Yeah, I printed it and used those. I think the email says they can also accept the ones the PD offer, but I used the ones they sent me to be safe.

"You may print two copies of the attached SF-87 or can use a law enforcement agency provided FD-258 card (two cards) to have your prints taken."
From the email

Ah ok, thank you. My message did have the portion saying you can use the law enforcement provided cards, but on mine it did not specifically mention the FD-258 cards for some reason...

Just took my ATCOV (Color vision and passed) the flight surgeon also said I passed my MMPI-2. I'll take that April 10th terminal date KH!

Hey congrats on the medical :D I too have color vision deficiency. Just curious on how many of those color vision plates you were able to see if any at the original medical office. I could only see about 9 of them and they will probably ask me to take the ATCOV. What about the universal colors where they just ask you to tell them what solid color you see... did you get all of those?

I literally could only see like 2 or 3 of the plates. I had to drive 5 hours to take the ATCOV and was surprised how easy it was. If you could see 9 you'll pass with 'flying colors' (see what I did there?)

In college I did experiment with marijuana a couple of times and put down that I only drank socially. Just got an email saying “Security notified us of your past illegal drug use, we will need a substance abuse narrative completed in paragraph format for both alcohol and illegal drugs. Sign and date and return to me.” Does this seem excessive? Just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this.

I see the irony that my username is “ihavewhiskey” lol

Quick timeline update, I started off pretty late for this bid, but I everything seems to be moving very fast respectively. Received my TOL 14 days ago. By tomorrow, I will have fingerprints done/mailed and eQip submitted. Tues is MMPI-2, then medical a week from Monday. So just over 3 weeks from TOL, I’ll have everything submitted, with the exception of drug test. Now hopefully everything just clears quickly lol.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying you did smoke marijuana in the past, chose NOT to disclose it to the FAA, but they found out anyway? For your sake I really hope not - that's about the quickest and easiest way to have your TOL rescinded entirely and be unhireable.

I was completely honest with the faa and didn’t leave out anything while filling out the sf-86. What I’m asking is if anyone else had any experience with a “Substance Consumption Narrative Statement”

I did a substance consumption narrative statement for underage drinking but you're dumb for putting anything about smoking marijuana on your sf86 anyway unless you were charged with something or something that can link you to it. My buddy got denied his medical for putting he tried marijuana once in the last two years.

I have my medical scheduled for next month. I've had a hard time finding a direct answer. Does anybody know the chances of getting a medical clearance for being treated for chronic migraines over 8 years ago? I was treated from 14 years old to 17 years old and I no longer get migraines. Sorry if there is a better forum for this.

Stoked for all of you who have a class date!!

It’s possible that they’ll request a current status report from the treating doctor for that. They’ll send you this form and you have to take it to that doctor and have them fill it out clearing you of it. I had to do that for a couple trivial things from like 5 years ago. Can’t say for sure if it’ll be that simple if you were treated for it for so long though

I'm hoping it will be that simple if they do have further questions. Thanks for the help!

The email I received with the SF87 fingerprint card attachment to print explicitly said that I could use either the SF87 or FD-258 if the police station I went to provided them. The office I went to did my prints digitally on a scanner with the FD-258 card. Sent them in over a week ago and have had no issue.
