Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

That’s really strange..I could have sworn they already scored all of the tests up through the 26th...hmm
Not here to stir up emotions... But I took my MMPI on Feb 26th and I got a call for academy dates.
I got an email on Saturday from medical saying they just got my results and I took it on the 27th

No emotions stirred up here. I figure it’ll happen or it won’t. It’s not for lack of reaching out on my part. I do find the differences interesting. Besides, I’m not wanting a date until “late” April. AND let’s not forget this is the government. Everything could suddenly clear and I get a call tomorrow. ?‍♂️

It may help explain if I didn’t take my med eval until the 7th. But I can’t see what that changes in the MMPI results.

Actually that probably does explain it. Unless something's changed for this bid, the MMPI is not a separate clearance, rather it's just a part of the medical clearance. Once HR sends you the CIL, they have nothing to do with you until they get a Yes from security and a Yes from medical, and that medical clearance includes your actual med exam as well as the MMPI. While Medical likely knows if you passed the MMPI by now, they probably just haven't transmitted that to HR since they haven't yet cleared you medically as a whole.

It's also worth noting that while the Tier 2 is most often linked to the MMPI, there are other things in your background that could also make you Tier 2 automatically without even taking the MMPI into account. Which is why the MMPI is not a standalone clearance that you can pass or fail - your entire medical package is all evaluated holistically to determine whether you're medically clear or if you need further evaluation in the form of a Tier 2.

Thanks for the clairification! Cleared up some hazy spots.

Although I feel I should clarify whom I reached out to. I emailed the medical email, and they were the ones who told me a new batch would be coming out. Honestly, I feel like it was just a generalized answer as opposed to an actual “let me pull up the file” answer. Either way, it’ll clear when it’ll clear(or not clear). Me pestering them for updates won’t overly help a lot lol

As a side note, I think most of my POC’s hate me, cause they almost never respond to my emails ?

Once again, I’m not gonna harp on it. I’m surprisingly peaceful about this part of the process. Well, the waiting still sucks but now that my part is done, there isn’t much point to stressing about what I “should have done” in the past that could have affected this future.

This whole process is infuriating. I've never seen a hiring process so wildly inconsistent.

And you guys are going through faster than we did last year which was even faster than the year before. Welcome to the federal government.. I’ve been at my center since last September and am just now starting to train on the floor. That’s compared to my other classmates that are just now taking their map test months away from even starting D-school. Just gotta hurry up and wait.

Everything will happen as it should happen ?

I don't even know the difference between the pools, can anyone explain? Are there pros or cons to one or the other? I just assumed it had to do with how available you are to start. Also does having a security clearance from the military help in any way? I don't remember it asking me if I had one or not during the application process but I feel like having active ts would be worth something...

Open bid with no prior experience required you go to the FAA academy. Prior experience bid where you need 52 weeks of certified controlling you go straight to your facility and bypass the academy.

Also, prior experience you don't have to take the ATSA

I don't understand how that has anything to do with with my question.... I'm asking what the difference between pool 1 and pool 2 is and if there's any benefit to choosing one or the other and if my security clearance means anything in the hiring process...

Pool 1 is vets and CTI, pool 2 is OTS.

Is this directed at me? Cause honestly I'm pretty new to the site, and I admittedly did not look at the FAQ. That being said none of those topics mention pools or prior clearances from what I see with a quick look.... I'll look harder tho...
I'm not gonna lie I found it in 2 clicks
