Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I think it went very well. It started out with my psychologist basically saying that the FAA believed I answered questions on the MMPI-2 to make myself seem better than I actually was so they needed to investigate that.

I had to take a few exams, (MMPI-2 again and two other exams). We talked a little as well and I also had the opportunity to explain why I answered T/F on certain questions. I assume those were flagged for some reason and they wanted me to clarify.

This whole thing took about five hours in total. I don't think there's any prep you can do for this and I wouldn't worry about it very much. Also, I do want to say that this was just my experience with it and yours could be very different.

MMPI-2 - March 4th, 2019
Notification from Medical for tier 2 (because I asked for an update) - April 14th, 2019
Notification from Hope for tier 2 - May 13th, 2019
Tier 2 Evaluation - June 5th, 2019

That doesn't sound bad. They only told me to expect a 2 hour appointment so I'm sure mine will be different.

Do I contact my HR POC if I want to know where they're at with my clearances?

I've seen people mention a medical POC; do they mean the "medical-applicants" email or did I just not get a medical POC to contact?

It’s the general Medical email. I think Medical does assign you to a specific person as I talked only with 1 person with regards to getting my Medical clearance. Security you should have a specific POC in your CIL.

I’ve tried reaching out to my HR POC, but it can be hit or miss depending on who you have. Gotta love the waiting game

My HR POC has not contacted me outside of the CIL. My Security POC told me (after I asked twice) that I had a conditional clearance and I contacted the general medical email to find out my MMPI results. I was sent a response back from both the general medical email and a specific person who asked me for more details and who Im assuming is my medical POC. Over all when I called the general HR number they were the most helpful and gave me the most information

If you have a class date and dont know where to stay. I highly recommend 152west its 3 bedroom 2 bath condo basically brand new. 3 miles from the academy. They take pets and Katy koon is super awesome

I don't think it's a bad idea to contact your medical POC/Security POC, I contacted my medical POC about my MMPI-2 results, soon as she looked them up she noticed my file was finished and contacted my HR rep, got my FOL a week later.

Took the evaluation yesterday. It was about 3 hours long. Retook the MMPI & some other test that was answering questions from Not True, Slightly True , Mainly True & Very True. Overall I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. She said I was flagged for trying to answer questions too perfectly. Hopefully things get moving along quickly from here on out.

I contacted my medical POC SM, and I got her voicemail. I just need to know if I passed the MMPI, but so far no answer from her.
I contacted my Security POC VS, and she told me "i'm still being processed and I will receive and update when i'm done being processed."

Edit: Got a call from Security POC and I've been granted a conditional security clearance! So whoever came on here and said "the squeaky wheel gets the grease", you were absolutely correct. Keep calling until you get answers.

How do you know your medical POC?

Serious question for those who are already employed, were you able to transfer your 401k from your previous job into the thrift savings plan? Is there a limit on how much you can transfer?

I’ve already called my current, and they told me no. Though I’m not employed yet. It’s things that I’ve already considered. I’ll probably cash out and manually transfer the money.

Yeah, I just don't want to pay the penalty for cashing out (I think it's 10% penalty fee). But hey I hear the pension/savings plan is nice in the FAA :)

I just got in contact with the financial institution that manages the 401k for the job I just left. I told them I'd be going to a government gig and wanted to rollover into the TSP, they said no problem, my new employer would give me transfer paperwork and a letter of acceptance. So I assume you should be able to do it.

That’s an Enroute date.

When do you select location assignment? after basic enroute or initial enroute? If you satisfactory completed basic enroute, do you right away go to initial enroute? or do you report to your location assignment, hang out until there is school opening? So many question...

You pick your location on the last day of class. You really need to read the FAQs section above as there is a LOT of information that you would be interested in and where all of this is explained.
