Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-19-ALLSRCE-61676

A pattern for the 2019 bid I've been noticing is that Pool 2's have been given Enroutes, and Pool 1's are more likely to be terminal (or being from the 2018 bid).

Can anyone who is P2 and have a Terminal class date reply if you do? Just hoping to see someone with this combination

Dude you're overthinking this lmao. You do realize only a small percentage of applicants use this forum?

The question wasn't "Do you realize how small of a percentage of applicants use this forum?"
Answer the question or don't waste everyone's time lol

They just fill as they go

That's not true though- some people in the Terminal thread were offered the position before 1/9 Enroute was completely filled (if we assume their self-reporting was correct.

I have no idea then. My best guess is that they try to fill a few upcoming classes to the point where it isnt just 3 people in a class. I followed the previous 2018 hiring thread and it seemed like if you wanted to change what you got, you had a decent chance of getting it changed

You have no idea what is true and what isn't true. Perhaps certain reps offer terminal classes and others do enroute. Who cares. Whatever happens happens. We don't need to overanalyze and question everything. Go enjoy the holidays.

Hey guys i feel like i read something about HR or someone contacting your current employers?? It's not an issue they do that, i guess im just curious to know what exactly goes on during that interchange.. if anyone could explain that it'd be dopeee.

Someone asked this earlier and it wasn't answered -- which e-mail did you receive info on who your medical POC was?
I have a security POC that I've talked to, and then my HR POC, both listed on the CIL; but no mention anywhere of a medical POC.

When I say my medical POC, I am referring to the person who e-mailed me requesting more info for a prior prescription I've taken and for info about a doctor visit. That person has been who I have been contacting. I'm not sure if everyone has a dedicated POC or not on the medical side.

The person conducting the background check will send letters to your supervisor and your employer's personnel department to verify information.

Nah let me overanalyze- I was literally just asking for someone who was from Pool 2 with a terminal date to confirm, is that really unreasonable?

So class dates so far are:

1/2/2019 enroute
1/9/2019 enroute
1/22/2019 terminal

I wonder how close to each date we will get before they stop offering it.
They're Filling 1/31 en route too. (Also, it's 2020. Haha I made that mistake earlier.)
They were Offering people 12/16 on 12/7, so it could be a quick turnaround if they end up with too many people cleared in a short time span.

It's a leap of faith and I'm going in blind for either terminal or enroute. It's impossible to know which one is more enjoyable or a better fit for me. I also am aware I don't have a choice in the matter. However, if transferring (ERR?) is difficult, is it more logical to want go to a higher level facility? If graduating from enroute can put you in a lvl 11 facility, I'd be in better shape than graduating terminal and going to a lvl 7. I'm assuming the lvl 7 trainee would then need to transfer, and then train at a busier tower again.

As others have said you are over analyzing it. Reps get a certain amount of slots in a class to assign people once they are done with their slots they move on. With class sizes being smaller than years past I would think 2 reps possibly one as filling a class. Being pool 1 or pool 2 traditionally has no bearing on what you track you get assigned.

Just started reading this and here's the excerpt regarding hiring, it includes some numbers from FY 2018 and 2019

Over the past five years, the FAA has hired over 7,800 new air traffic controllers. We exceeded our hiring target in 2018, hiring 1,787 new controllers compared with a plan of 1,701. The anticipated number of new controller hires in FY 2019 is 907. This represents a substantial reduction to the FY 2019 target of 1,431 stated in the FY 2018 Controller Workforce Plan. This is also the lowest number of new controller hires since 2013. The reduction is primarily due to:
• The FAA hiring of 86 more controllers than forecasted last year while losing 113 fewer controllers to attrition. This resulted in a total onboard controller headcount of nearly 200 higher than forecasted at the end of FY 2018. 2019-2028 . 5 The FAA’s goal is to ensure that the agency has the flexibility to match the number of controllers at each facility with traffic volume and workload. Staffing to traffic is just one of the ways we manage America’s National Airspace System.
• A lapse in funding in the first quarter of FY 2019 resulted in a partial government shutdown and disruption to the hiring process. This limited our administrative hiring and screening activities, and it caused current FAA Air Traffic Academy students to retake portions of their training while delaying start dates for others.
• For FY 2019 hiring, there were fewer well-qualified applicants in Pool 1 (Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) graduates and veterans) thus limiting the number of well-qualified Pool 2 (general public) applicants that could be selected for a position
