Cancer survivors, HIV positive/Diabetes, those taking immuno suppressing drugs, etc. There is not enough urgency on this and its going to take until its too late because no one wants to buck the system and jeopardize so-called #BestJobinTheWorld

If denied, exhaust all your leave and then ask for LWOP. Its not worth you or your family's safety.

I’m currently trying to get this approved for myself as someone with a compromised immune system. It’s not going well. I have to exhaust all my leave if I don’t want to be here. That’s with a physician’s order to self-isolate. So I’ll probably get it here at work. When/if it sends me to the hospital I’ll know exactly why it happened.

But it’s a fantastic choice I’m given: exhaust all leave, including advanced sick leave, indebted to the agency for months or years, or get Coronavirus and potentially wind up in the hospital. That’s where we are.

I just walked into my facility and was told all training is canceled for all of the developmentals in the building... So silver lining is I don't have to train anyone.

What does two weeks do? Does anyone actually think this is going to be over in two weeks? If you are immune compromised then you are already at a higher risk for just about anything. Nobody wants to be at work right now. You have sick leave for a reason. If you need to use it then use it but just simply saying you want an excused absence because you don't want to risk yourself and everyone else should is BS.

And about the #BestJobinTheWorld...I'm not an advocate that this is the best job in the world. But everyone else in our industry is about ready to face furloughs and irreparable financial damage. We're arguing about downgrades (that facilities will have a very easy argument against) and admin leave. Many are just trying to figure out how rent/mortgage is getting paid in 2 weeks.

Public health department in my county and the surrounding ones has moved on from quarantining if your exposed, only if you exhibit symptoms. Which seems odd given how they are almost certain people have as high/higher viral loads before they exhibit symptoms.

Have they tried the state medical official contacts they sent out in an email? If I’m reading it right, they can assign self quarantine and they will be eligible for excused for 14 days.

Same thing at my facility. They've postponed the refresher training, lots of rumors going around about sending trainees on admin leave, but no triggers pulled yet. All of our classroom trainers are definitely in the high risk older category, so I'm waiting to see what happens next. And I swear to god if they tell us "self study" for the next 3 weeks 🙄

Pretty much everyone (70% ish of the population or more) will get it. If everyone gets it now, a bunch of people who are worst-hit will go to the hospitals. The hospitals won't have enough beds or staff to care for everyone and will have to literally do triage and decide who dies and who gets treatment.

If everyone gets it over a longer period of time, the healthcare system will be less stressed overall. Besides, a vaccine is not impossible.

I was just self quarantined for 2 days while my wife’s test came back to negative due to her symptoms and exposure risk. I was told that the only way I’d get admin leave is if I myself was diagnosed with covid-19. Not preventive, doctors say you and your spouse should isolate, not you’re being tested for it...you’re actually diagnosed. Then we’ll probably get you excused leave.

Self study is okay. Basically it's just sit in the training room, watch Netflix on phone or tablet, order stuff from Amazon, and when your trainer or someone from mgmt walks in, just fumble fuck with that 7110.65 binder to cover that shit up and no one suspects a thing.

I understand that. What I was saying about two weeks is that it doesn’t do any good to simply give someone two weeks of excused absence just because they feel they are at risk. We’re all at risk and unless you actually have it, have recently travelled to a high risk area or have come in contact with someone who has then you should use your own sick leave. Period.
